I've flown All Nippon and Air Nippon many times, but I can hardly remember because my last ANA trip was a few years ago. Here's my trip report with all that I can remember from it in.
June 17, 1999
We arrived into the Kansai Airport on time. The airport is great. It is my favorite airport and I always look forward to coming here. It is a very convinient airport. Lots of shops and restaraunts and lots of intersting planes. I'm never bored here during layovers. I always try to get a long layover here. I had about 4 hours in here to clear immigration and customs and to check in. After about 30 mins in immigration and customs, we went to check in for our flight to Okinawa. After that, I enjoyed the shops, restaraunts, and spotting.

All Nippon Airways flight NH497
Osaka/Kansai to Okinawa/Naha
I boarded the plane and it left on time as usual on ANA at 7:30 PM. I think all we had for dinner was this disgusting roll with some purple stuff I don't want to know about in it. mmmmmm... Last time on ANA we got these rice and sushi boxes and ham and cheese sandwiches. The F/As on ANA have been helpful and nice as always. The 767 is a great plane, probably the best I've flown on. In my row 2 seat, it's really quiet. I had to go to the back of the plane to the lavs and I noticed how louder it got in the back. The lavs were really large to my surprise. I was used to those telephone-booth sized ones on Northwest. The 2 hour flight went by quickly and it was a good flight. They have some good IFE especially for a 2 hour flight. It had this thing in Japanese I couldn't watch since I don't know Japanese and I listened to the music. I listened to the US pop music station. We landed in Okinawa on time.

After meeting relatives we headed towards the baggage claim and left. We stepped out of the terminal and we were greeted into Okinawa by the heat and humidity. I saw the beautiful ocean and palm trees. As we drove out, I saw many beautiful buildings with neon lights as we drove past the Kokusai Street area. We're not in Kansas anymore.

We came into the Naha airport early to check in for our flight. You have to check-in earlier if you are connecting to a USA flight on any airline. The terminal is modern and spacious. It's really nice inside. The terminal was only a month old. The old Okinawa airport was dirty, humid, and old. When I was in line to check-in I noticed a lot of Americans checking in for my flight to Osaka, too. Must be from the military. Okinawa has a large US military presence. After checking in, I looked at some of the stores and then went to my favorite place for breakfast, the Royal Cafe. I usually had breakfast here before my flight in the old Okinawa terminal. Delicious food, had sausage, toast, and I think pancakes.

All Nippon Airways flight NH492
Okinawa/Naha to Osaka/Kansai
Flight left on time. Pretty uneventful. Breakfast was the disgusting wierd piece of bread with that purple stuff in it. Other than that, it was great. Listened to music most of the flight and saw beautiful Okinawa out the window. Had to say goodbye to the beaches, clear water, good weather, and palm trees and say hello in 20 hours to the drab, boring city of Wichita. Flight was pretty quick at about 2 hours. F/As as usual were quite helpful and nice. Comfortable flight. As usual, the 767 doesn't fail to impress me.
Immediately after getting off the plane, we headed for the baggage claim. While my parents were getting the bags, I headed off to the restroom. Some lady who must've been a security guard stopped me and said something in Japanese. I said "I'm sorry but I don't speak Japanese" in English. To my surprise, she seemed to know english quite well. She was wondering where I was going to. I came back for the bags, but we had a problem. We didn't get the bags. We asked the ANAgent and she told us our bags were already being transfered to our flight to Seattle. How nice! We wandered around the airport looking at stores and just looking around. Then, we went up to 4th floor to check in for our Northwest flight to Seattle. After that, we had to go through customs and immgration. We passed that without a problem. We looked at the duty-free shops and saw a few planes took off. Then we got on the wing shuttle(trams). Our flight was at a gate at the other end of the terminal. The wing shuttle got us there quickly. We sat around waiting for our flight. There were a few duty-free stores near our gate. I looked around a little, but mostly looked at planes take off and land. Our flight was to depart 10 mins. early.
Hope you enjoyed it and it was helpful. I tried to remember some of the details like food service, but this was a few years ago, so I can't remember much of it. I may be going to Okinawa again this summer. Look for a trip report
. I will fly on NW/ANA as usual. ANA is a great airline. Good service, good fleet, great crew/staff.
I'm looking forward to my next flight with them.
