Early morning flight at FNT. I checked in for my flights the nighte before, and since I was not checking ANYTHING, I proceeded to security.. Got through there pretty quickly, although my watch band broke when I took it off at security There was a rent-a-cop who said (cheerfully, politely) "Good morning sir.. Do you mind if I wand you today?" I almost laughed.. What was I supposed to say? No thanks? LOL.. HE wanded me, foudn nothing (of course) and I procceded to walk around until boarding time. When they called for boarding, I was first in line, and my dad was about 3 or 4 behind me.. He got picked out to be searched.. Oh well I thought. I got on the plane, and sat there till we got going.. Once pushed back from the parking spot, the captain's had to put the turboprops through the tests, as it was this plane's first flight of the day.. we took off, and passed over into Canada on our way to DTW. Saw the Ren Cen and other stuff.. Touchdown in DTW was smooth and uneventful.. Taxied to C gate at the new terminal..Once off the plane, I ended up playing follow the leader (me leading) to a bunch of confused pax who didn't know where they were going.. We got down to the underground tunnel, and I was amazed. They had lights shining on the walls with patterns, changing colors every few seconds.. Music too.. Tranquil.. I though it was awesome.. From there, we had a layover of about 1hr10min.. So I went to our next gate.

My dad and I got to the gate, at different times.. I had to call my friend, and he got some food.. We met up and I got some $$ to get mcdonalds.. Yum.. Got back to the gate, and Dad tried to upgrade me w/his Platinum staus.. They said they couldn't because I was on a Freq. Flyer voucher (which was not true, it was compensation for some VERY bad service one day), but I really didn't care.. When boarding time came, Dad got called for the random search again.. But this time, once he was done, he started walking back to me.. The security people told him he had to board.. He didn't want to, he wanted to wait for me.. There was a bit of tension, and I finally just shouted (almost yelling) "DAD- BOARD THE DAMN PLANE!!!" God.. I was SO embarresed. He shoud know better.. I was in seat 5a, BULKHEAD WINDOW seat, and the only other person in row 5 was in 5f.. She was a F/A for Express1 (NW Airlink) and flew on the CRJ's.. She was Non-revving to MEM to finish moving her stuff to DTW.. We talked for a while, then my dad came back and sat next to me.. (We had a few words about the little incident I just mentioned..) We taxied for takeoff, and had some turbulance once in the air for about 5-10 minutes.. Nothing big.. Flight wwas VERY smooth, and by the end, I had gone through 1/2 of a book and one CD.. The decent was a bit bumpy too, but nothing big.. Arrived in MEM, and taxied to the gate..

After arrival at MEM, we discovered our gates were only a couple apart.. so we went there, and I told Dad to watch our stuff while I walked around.. Bought some postcards in the store, and called my friend again.. (She was tracking us on FLIGHTtracker ) Came back to the gate, and Dad went off walking.. Nothing much really happened in MEM, (until boarding).. I DID notice a flight to DCA had the WHOLE waiting area blocked off, with a NW emplyoee letting certain ppl through.. They must be nuts.. Anyway, Boarding started.. And Dad got searched.. AGAIN... No trouble this time though.. I finally boarded, and got in 5a AGAIN.. Anyway, the takeoff was a bit bumpy again, as was the last bit of the descent.. Nothing to really note about the flight, except two things- 1. I got in te cockpit of the plane and got a pic taken, 2. I saw an ALL-WHITE 747-100 sitting behind some trees.. Couldn't figure who's it was. More on that later.. Taxied to the gate, and got out rental car, and were off..

We arrived at OKC dreadfully early.. If it was DTW or MEM or whatever, it would've been cool, as ther would actually have been stuff to WATCH!! AS it was, I only saw a few Southwest 737's (some quite old, with the long silver engines) a DL 727, American Eagle EMB (I think) and an AA MD-80 (TWA reg #).. I DID go to the observation tower for a bit though.. Anyway.. Called my friend, as she wanted to track our flights back .. Nothing happened at OKC at all. Boarding started, and *GASP* Dad did NOT get searched!!! Wow!! Anyway, pushback was right on time, and we were airborne before long.. Takeoff was on RWY 17L.. The flight was REALLY smooth until about 50 miles outside of MEM.. The F/A assigned to the coach of the plane sat with me for about 1/3 or so of the flight, talking about being a F/A.. I enjoyed it.. I had the WHOLE ROW to myself.. Anyway, upon landing, I got my pic in the RIGHT seat of the cockpit, (I was in the left when we got to to OKC) and we de-planed... We had quite a walk to our next gate..

While in MEM, I had to mail the postcards I picked up on the way down.. The mailbox was small and tan, instead of large and blue.. Threw me off a bit.. Anyway, I called my friend, and she warned me about the storms we were gonna fly thrugh.. THE WHOLE WAY!!!!!! I was NOT thrilled.. At least I was warned.. Anyway, I took a walk around, and when I got back, they were ALREADY boarding the plane.. Dad was itching to get on. So I took MY bags, and he boarded.. Again, he did NOT get searched.. I finally boarded, and talked to a F/A.. He was HUGE.. Blad head, looked like the "I-go-the-gym-3-times-a-day" type.. His name was David Charles.. He was a RIOT!! He had the whole back half of the plane cracking up. The kids loved this guy. Anyway, I took my seat, and sat and waited.. While on our way to the RWY (18C) for takeoff, the pilot told the F/A's to REMAIN SEATED until he gave the word.. We were expecting turbulance.. But, the good news- One hell of a tail wind.. we arrived about 20-30 min early into DTW... Anyway, in seat 20A, there was this kid who REFUSED to stay seated.. He stood on the seat.. on the armrest.. On his mother, all the time getting bounced around and seeming to love it.. I was scared that we were gonna hit some hard turbulance and he was gonna go flying (No pun intended).. Anyway, We were more shook up by the end of the flight than one of 007's Vodka Martinis .. Anyway, I got my pic in the cockpit when we got off We were REALLY early in Detroit, so I called my friend, and discussed stuff. Anyway, I got some fries and a pop at McDonalds, and went to wait for the last flight.. The Gate lady was a riot.. Dad was telling her about getting searched and stuff, and she told him NOT to be 1st in line.. We all had a good laugh..

When we boarded, I got moved to first class with my dad.. for the whole 20 min flight.. We were delayed, as we were supposed to back up on our own power, but the tarmac was to wet, so we had to wait.. anyway, we took off, and got to FNT.. Basic quick puddle jump.. Anyway, That's it..
I'd give the whole experience a 125% rating.. I had GREAT flights, GREAT crews, and great everything.. I'll scan pics and post them asap.. FLY THE RED TAILS!!!!
BTW- I found out the white 747-100 was property of a flight school at OKC, used for training... NW donated it
