I arrived before the 2 hellraisers to GPT and checked in. I was assigned 11F, but the flight had only 3 Coach Class Passengers and 2 morons. This was my third flight on the 717, and was probably the best. I met a cool flight attendant named Jeff Simons. He was the best flight attendant I have had on any of my flights. During Pushback, The Captain started the number one BR715-A1-30 Engine and began the taxi. During the Taxi about 1 minute before turning onto the active runway, he started Engine #2. We took off on Runway 3-2 heading for ATL. The takeoff was steep. From what I hear, the Breakfast bar (Nutra Grain) is for Business Class only, But Jeff served me a can of Florida's Natural; Growers' Pride Orange Juice and an APPLE CINNAMON/BROWN SUGAR Nutra Grain TWISTS bar. Throughout the Flight, I went back and forth to the galley and talked to the Flight Attendants showing them my Boeing 717 information packet that I recieved from Boeing. They were impressed about all that i knew about this plane. I talked to Jeff the most. This flight was uneventful and ship 713 performed splendidly. While I was wandering throughout the empty cabin, the seatbelt light came on. I just so happened to be at an exit row at the time, so I sat down and buckled up for descent. I was taking pictures of the wing, and ground when...oh da**, I ran out of film. My Bag was up front. Jeff was so kind as to bring me my bag so I could take pictures and more pictures. He pointed out to me where he lived, and talked to me. Right in the middle of the conversation, we entered the wake vortex of a company DC-9, and we went Sailing. The Airplane veered sharply to the left and dived about 20-30 (M.M.M.L) feet, but the captain regained control. We slowly descended towards runway 9R. After we touched down, We came to a screeching halt (literally) when the Captain (Did I mention both pilots had 4 stripes) deployed the Thrust Reversers, and Spoilers. We taxied to Gate Charlie 12 at ATL. I stayed on board and talked to Jeff for a little while, but then I left when the cleaning crew came on board. This was my best 717 flight besides the 2 morons who kept acting like...well morons, but hey, there's a couple on every flight right?

This is a bit of a doozie man, it really is. I was scheduled to go back on Flight 659 which is the flight right after 657 (2 hours away). But those 2 morons I mentioned in the first segment followed me...tried to follow me through the airport. But they never found me. While I was there, I met up with Cody(from the forums) and We talked about flying ETC. He is a really great guy to talk to, and I think he is just the perfect person to fly a plane. Anyway, Back to da' story. I went up to Gate Charlie 14 (Which had the Gulfport/Biloxi destination sign on the board.) and asked David (The friendly atlanta based gate agent) if I could switch from Flight 659, to Flight 657. He switched me without any trouble at all. So I stayed around there and when It came time for me to board, I boarded. Those 2 morons were fooled for a minute when they didn't see me board Flight 659. Would you like to hear their names so you can avoid them. email me and I'll tell ya. Anyway, The captain started both engines and we powerbacked from the gate. We tookoff on runway 8R and headed towards GPT. The flight itself was boring (But I love the 717).
I just stared out the window and took pictures and read ARRIVALS. We landed long at GPT and had to stop immediately. We almost had to go around, but I guess that wasn't necessary.
Well, As usual, My Flights on Airtran were excellent and I would recommend them to anybody who asked me.
P.S. If any of you curious forum members would like to know the morons names, please email me and I will tell you. JETEye715@lycos.com
I can tell you a real story about the insiders view of the flight, but that doesn't belong in Trip Reports.
