NW 3199
CMI-DTW
SAAB 340 B+

SCHEDULED DEPARTURE: 10:25A
OUT OF THE GATE: 10:15A
WHEELS UP: 10:20A
SCHEDULED ARRIVAL: 1:00P
WHEELS ON: 12:30P
AT GATE: 12:40P

I checked in on the internet the night before and secured myself good window seats near the front of the airplane. When I got to the airport there was nobody in line at the counter so asked the agent for exit rows on both flights. She happily printed two new boarding passes for me and wished me a pleasant trip. Upon boarding I was randomly selected for a security screening which I complied with and was finished in just a couple of minutes. The flight was very full and we had a cheerful flight attendant who made sure everyone was as comfortable as can be on the Saab. We left the gate 10 minutes early and made the short taxi to the runway and we were airborne 5 minutes before the scheduled departure time!! Drinks were served about 10 minutes into the flight and I was asleep by that time. I was shocked when I awoke to have the flight attendant come over and ask me if I had enjoyed my nap and if I wanted anything to drink. I took a Pepsi and she offered me two packets of pretzels and the full can. She came back about 20 minutes later and offered more ice and pretzels. This was some of the best service I have ever had from a flight attendant. We landed 30 minutes early and made the long taxi to the new terminal C. After we parked it was a couple of minutes while the gate agent positioned the jetway, but well worth the wait, as it takes away the hassles of riding a bus out to the plane.

SCHEDULED DEPARTURE: 1:52P
OUT OF THE GATE: 1:50P
WHEELS UP: 2:25P
SCHEDULED ARRIVAL: 3:22P
WHEELS ON: 3:19P
AT GATE: 3:22P

This flight looked packed as the gate area was totally full. I was again randomly selected for a security check as I boarded. The security folks were friendly and I let them know that I had already had one check today and they apologized. I told them no apology was needed and I thanked them for the job they do. I was pleased to noticed this was a newer 757-200, known as the 5600 series at Northwest. It is the kind with 3 doors on each side and 2 over-wing window exits. They are all 1996 and newer I believe. My seat was 16F, bulkhead window. There was tons of legroom and even a little TV mounted on the wall infront of the row. Northwest has not been showing domestic IFE lately, and even the safety briefings are done by the flight attendants, so the screen was dark for the whole flight. We left the gate a couple of minutes early but we pulled into the holding pen and the captain announced that due to severe storms at BWI we would be delayed leaving for about 25 minutes. Sure enough, about 20 minutes later we hoped back in line and took off shortly there after. The flight attendants came around with drinks about 10 minutes into the flight and chatted with me about the Sushi I was eating and she was surprised and excited that DTW had a Sushi bar. She said she was MSP based and hasn’t spent too much time at the new DTW. Anyway, after the flight attendants when down the whole plane, she came back me and the other people in my row a refill. I thought this was nice because we had already been given the whole can and a twix bar and pretzels. I know its not much, but these little acts of kindness do not go unnoticed!! We touched down ever so smoothly at BWI and pulled into the gate right on time!

WAY TO GO NORTHWEST!!! ANOTHER GREAT TRIP HELPING TO PROVE THAT NORTHWEST IS A RELIABLE AND PROFESSIONAL AIRLINE!

Great trip report. I wish I had more oportunity to fly the red tails but they never fit in with my travel plans, because of my dad its usually AA this and AA that. Are you going to catch a Orioles game while your down in Baltimore?
