In December I found the Jet2 website on the internet, offering flights from Amsterdam to Leeds/Bradford from 12 February for only EUR. 2,35. Because the last flight I made was already a few months ago, I thought it was time to book some flights. So I booked a flight to Leeds with Jet2 (inaugural flight). Because I really like flying, my flight back to Amsterdam was via Heathrow on British Midland.
So it was 12 February and at 5:45 I had to get up to catch the 7:04 train to Schiphol Airport. But unfortunately, the train broke down and we had to wait for the 7:34 train which was so full, that a lot of people had to wait another half an hour for the next train, but I managed to get in as soon as the doors opened. So I finally arrived at the airport and went straight to the departure terminal. It was very misty this morning. I saw on the screens that a lot of incoming aircraft where delayed. I looked for the incoming flight from LBA and saw it would arrive 45 min. late. Looking at the screens I was looking to which check-in desk I had to go. Flight LS-202 was on the screen, but the check-in desk wasn't. Now I began to worry a bit. Was the flight cancelled ? Did the plane divert because of the fog ? What's wrong ? I went to the airport's information desk and the lady told me that I had to go to desk 3. I went to desk 3 but saw only 3 open desks for Swiss flights. But somewhere in the back I saw a two people so I went to them and then I saw that the Jet2 desks where there in the back. You really have to look for them. I got seat 6A. I had about an hour to boarding time so I went upstairs to the visitors terrace but it was closed. It didn't matter because it was so foggy that there was really nothing to see outside. I decided to go to the gate and wait overthere. The gate was D4 so I dind't had to walk far. At the gate there were balloons and a few people where waiting. Some festivities were planned. There was a lot of press (saw myself on tv today), the Chief Executive of Jet2, someone of Leeds/Bradford airport, guests etc. Finally the aircraft arrived and hour late at the gate (aircraft was put in a holdingpattern) and soon thereafter, when all pictures were taken and everything was filmed by the press, the boarding started at 10:50. I noticed the nice looking white seatings but the leg room was just terrible. Probably the worst I have ever seen. When everybody boarded the plane (around 30-40 pax) we waited for the special guests and press. At 11:10 the door was closed and at 11:18 pushback started (we had to wait for our slot). It was still foggy but a littlebit better than an our earlier. We taxied to runway 01L (to become runway 36C from 20 February) and at 11:30 we were airborne and on our way to LBA. Very soon we were above the fog and climbing to 33000 feet. Food and drinks were free on this first flight. Some 20 minutes later we already started our descent. It was cloudy all the way. With a visibility of 4000 meters we landed at 11:17 local time at LBA on runway 32. After hard breaking we made a short backtrack at taxied to stand 6. It took a few minutes before the stairs were put to the aircraft and after a short walk to the terminal my first flight of the day ended here.
My first impression of Jet2 was good and the crew was very friendly too. Except voor de leg room but I'm not a very tall guy so I didn't had any problems with that.
I went outside, looking for a good place to spot some aircraft. Unfortunately, Leeds/Bradford is not a good airport for spotting. And the visibility was not good aswell. So I went back to the terminal and checked in for my next flight.

I was a littlebit excited about this flight. Finally again a flight with a Fokker 100. My first Fokker 100 flight was with KLM uk to Teesside a few years ago but after a few Boeing 737 flights it's nice to fly again with this beautiful Dutch product. It was also my first time with bmi. Boarding started on time and at 15:12 we began our pushback. At start-up you could hear the typical Fokker 100 engine sound. Very nice... After a backtrack we started our take-off roll at 15:19 from runway 32. We climbed up to 24000 feet. After a few minutes we started our decent into Heathrow. I think that during decent the speedbrakes were deployed because suddenly it was like someone hit the brakes. I love that feeling. At 15:57 we touched-down on runway 27L at Heathrow and taxied to our parkingstand. But first we had to wait because our stand was still occupied by an other bmi aircraft. The pilot told us it should take no longer than 2-3 minutes but after 10 minutes he told us that that aircraft had some problems and we had to wait for an other parkingstand. At 16:25 we finally reached our stand N78. I think the airbridge didn't work or something because we had to disembark by stairs.

My last flight of the day was back home. First time on a A321. I noticed immediately that the aircraft was much wider than the B737 (or it looks just like that). The seats were also wider than on the B737 and F100. I like the A320-series aircraft very much. The only thing I didn't like on the A321 was that it was very noisy. There was also a "buzzing" sound the whole time. Anyway, at 18:13 we started our pushback and 4 minutes later we started taxiing, this time to runway 09R. at 18:26 we were airborne. This was probably the smoothest flight I ever made. It was very nice. Our cruising alt. was 23000 feet and at 20:05 we touched down on runway 06 at Schiphol. We rolled almost to the end of the runway and 3 minutes later we were at gate D18.
Tired but satisfied I took the train back home.
I hope you didn't get bored by this (maybe a littlebit too long) story.
