Lax-Mco-Lax On American Airlines

Fri Jul 11, 2003 4:36 pm

Me my mom and my grandmother decided to go to Disney world for 5 days. So the package deal came with an AA flight.

Flight:AA204
Class:L
seat:26C
Aircraft:757-200
We decided to go on the red eye flight to MCO from LAX. We thought that taking such a flight would maximize out first day since going east takes time away from the day. So that night my dad drove us from our home of Rancho Palos Verdes to lax which is about 30 minutes away. We checked in at the curb and there was nobody checking in so we got checked in very quickly. Since the night was so late the stores were closing so then that meant that we must wait by the gate until 10:35 pm when boarding was started. I being an aviation lover I watched the 757 that were going on and I saw how the plane was being prepared for the flight to MCO. I had never been on a 757 before so I was excited. Boarding started and we were in group 2 so we got on when the group was announced. I got on the plane and the FA was at the door acknowledging us as we got on the plane and the other FA was in the tiny first class galley getting some carts ready I guess. I go through the nice first class area on the plane that consisted of wide black leather seats. I then walked in to the economy class. I saw the flight attendant that I had talked to briefly in the terminal. She was very nice and welcomed me and said HI to me. I then saw the greenish blue seats with pink lines that made rectangles that are filled in with pink. I found my seat and I let my mom and my grandmother sit since I was on the aisle. I opened the overhead locker to put my bag in and discovered the larger overhead lockers. I sat and immediately noticed the huge amount of leg room. I am almost 6 foot so I need to have a lot of leg room. I was waiting for the plane to push back and get on the way to MCO. We took off and went over the Santa Monica pier. Then the rest of the way it was pretty dark. We got a small white plastic basket. We got some kind of hot sandwich, Ruffles potato chips, carrots, and chocolate chip cookie. I got my drink and then shortly after I fell asleep for about and hour or so. I woke up the the K-19 widow maker with Harrison ford. We missed the head phone distribution so I did not watch the movie. I later found that the Monday night CBS line up was going to be on. So I saw the tonight show and Everybody loves Raymond on TV. I love watching TV on a plane. I was not able to sleep event's I had taken 2 tylenal pm tablets. I was tired enough to just stay seated and not to move but not to sleep. Soon the announcement was made that we were descending into the Orlando area. So I was getting excited that we were almost there. We started to land and then we hit the ground and came to a stop one the taxi way. I saw that it was extremely dark outside. I asked my mom what time it was. She said that it was 6:30 am and 3:30 am in LA. We get off the plane and walked to the door and said good bye to the captain and the Flight attendants that made the flight very pleasurable and made me love American Airlines. I thought Florida was warm even in January however, I was wrong it was very cold and breezy for the first day. One thing go to Disney world one while you are alive.

MCO-LAX
Flight:AA1804
Equip:737-800
Seat:
ClassLOST BOARDING PASS STUB
I was very sad to leave beautiful Orlando and the Animal Kingdom Lodge in Disney World. We took the shuttle to MCO and we went to the AA terminal and again got our suitcases checked through outside and got our boarding passes. We went on the tram to the place where the planes are at. MCO Is not like all other airports with the planes and the airline counters are in the same place. So we waited at the gate for awhile and then I saw the 757-200 at the gate going to MIA. That plane left and shortly after the plane that was taking me home to LAX came the little 737. My grandmother complained that the plane was too small. I love 737's so I was happy. I got on the plane and had the wonderful Fa at the door saying " welcome aboard". I saw the nice blue seats that are now on all new AA planes. I walked into the coach class and saw the smaller seats but they had the leather head rests. I settled in for my over 5 hour flight to LAX. We pushed back and taxied and I happened to see an AA A600 plane. I have never been on one before. We took off and then we got drinks and saw the preview for the movie which was the Possession with Gwyenth Paltrow. We ate lunch which was some kind of chicken with Mexican rice, salad, hard cold bread, and some kind of dessert. I was listening to my CD player to some Red Hot Chili peppers and read my book. Then I got into the movie and just at the tail end I ended up falling a sleep. I was very Upset because the movie was very interesting. We then watched sixty minutes and some other day time show on CBS. I was watching the lady across from me. She was using the GTE airphone which probaly is like 2.00 a minute. We then started the decent into La. Then, I saw out the window the Harbor which is where my dad works and where I live and I wanted to got out of the plane there and go home. We finally touched down in La and I was glad to be home. I got off the plane and said good bye to the wonderful AA flight crew. I got my luggage and went home.

AA is a wonderful airline and I will continue to fly with them a much as I can.

Thanks for the report and the pictures. It sounds like you had a nice trip, and you said you liked American Airlines. I've flown with them a lot. Yes indeed, the 757's have not been refurbished with the new interiors unlike the new 737's. The old seats in coach that you describe, I remember those. However it sounds like those seats are now pretty old because when I had those years ago they were blue, plain blue not greenish, and the rectangles you mention were light gray not pink. I remember very well. There is no MRTC on the 757. Earlier this year I flew on an ex-TWA 757 from DFW to LGA, it was painted in full AA colours but it still had the former TWA interiors and the crew was STL based. I had quite a nice flight.
I'm glad that your trip went well. Take care.

There is no MRTC on the 757.

Actually there is for now. There won't be by 02/04, however.

MRTC stands for More Room Throughout Coach.

Does anyone here know if MRTC actually provides more space to the point where the difference between a MRTC equipped aircraft and a non-MRTC aircraft is greater!?

That was an awesome report!!!
How was Disney World? I hope it was as Awesome as your flights.
To me, flying to your vacation destination just makes it 150% better. Now, I'm saying that from a 15 year old's POV because if I was the one paying for it I would probably say different.
I flew American Airlines for the first time in May and it was on a McDonnel-Douglas MDC MD80 Aircraft. It was fun and the flights were really good. The flight attendants were so helpful to me (I was flying alone and for the first time without the unaccompanied minor service). I love American Airlines.

Continental:

MRTC is a great thing, and the one reason I have so far remained loyal to American.
I have had great, as well as poor, experiences with American. I live in Dallas though, so often it makes the most sense to choose them.
Back to your question, MRTC is just terriffic. Yeah, it's only two extra inches, but BOY do they count! There are lots of people on this site that swear they can't tell... to which I say, well, maybe you are eight feet tall or something. I don't know, but you can definitely tell.

Great trip report. Were you near the front or rear of the plane on the 737???

I've flown American Airlines once and I can't really tell if there is more room or not, but HEY it didn't matter because I'm only 5 feet tall and weigh only 90 lbs. so either way I had LOTS of room. Hahahahaha!

"MCO Is not like all other airports, with the planes and the airline counters are in the same place "

just a small correction.
ATL
CVG
and a couple of others are like that as well. DFW has a small area like that.
NEXT FLIGHT: FLL-ATL-HPN on FL
