Last weekend I visited some relatives living in TPQ (Tepic, Nayarit -Mexico-). I bought a ticket from Aeromar (VW), an airline flying ATR42. The ticket was rather expensive (more than U$400) for a domestic trip... But it was that or flying Aerocalifornia (JR), which I prefer to avoid. Besides, the schedule was much more conveniente with VW than JR. With VW I was able to fly Friday evening and go back on Sunday's evening, maximising my time spent in Tepic.

Aeromar flights can be boarded from either the main terminal of MEX or by its own terminal, which is opposite from the main terminal, across the runways. Though are quarterly Avioncitos meeting is at Aeromar Terminal I had never boarded a plane from there. So this time I choose to take my flight from this terminal.
Though it is across the runways (in front of MEX main building), arriving to it by car takes much more than 10 additional minutes due to heavy traffic. However, once you arrive into the terminal everything comes fast and easy. Boarding passes were handed in less than 1 minute and I proceeded to the small waiting area. I arrived only 20 minutes before the flight, but it was enough time given the small plane and its vecinity to the gate.
We were only 22 pax in this ATR42. I think it was a poor load for the final flight of a Friday. Most of the people seemed to work for the government. I think it was me the only one travelling on leisure.
Though a mere 536 nm flight, it took more than 1.5 hours. VW f/a offered a real meal consisting in chicken, sodas, cracker, lettuce and dessert. You can expect at least this when tix costs over U$400.
The in flight magazine, called Aeromagazine, is very "creative". Given the destinations served by Aeromar, it is hard to talk of the bright and touristic side of them... However, they manage to make Lázaro Cárdenas or Uruapan appealing.
Arrival into Tepic is awesome, especially for the green fields surrounding the aiport. This airport is rather small. It only gets a couple of daily flights from MEX with VW and a dialy TIJ-TPQ-MEX, so there only one single store. Thanks God my cousin arrived on time to pick me up!
This aiport was built in 1998, substituting an even smaller airport which had being absorbed by city growth. In fact, I remember flying from old TPQ and the main building was no bigger than a big American-style house.
This is it... Another trip report in a domestic Mexican carrier... and probably the first one about VW!!!
