I just got back from a day trip MSP
. This is my first trip report, so any suggestions on how I can make my future trip reports would be appreciated.
I got to MSP
at around 7:30 AM
for my 9AM departure to Chicago Midway. Went to the e-ticket machines, put in my WorldPerks card, selected my reservation, and printed it. This process took about 5 minutes (including waiting in line). I proceeded to the security area, where I waited in line for about 10 minutes or 15 minutes.
Once I was in the terminal, I walked to the G Concourse (my aircraft was leaving from G21).I went to Caribou Coffee, and got a light snack, returned to gate area and watched the planes a little bit.
NORTHWEST AIRLINES FLIGHT 1282

SCHED ARR: MDW AT
Pre boarding began about 30 minutes before departure (a guess). I boarded the aircraft at around 8:45, and was greeted by a flight attendant who seemed very accommodating. I took my seat at 6D, which had plenty of leg room (for anyone flying on NW
DC-9-30s in Y, try to get 6D). The cabin was in good condition, and seemed new. For the average passenger flying, they would not be able to tell that they were on a 25 year old plane.
We pushed back and took off on time. The pilot came over and told us that he expected to be in Chicago a few minutes early, and that the weather seemed to be OK
. The flight attendants came around with pretzels and drinks. The flight was pretty smooth for the most part, and by the time I was done browsing though the in flight magazine, we were beginning our decent for Chicago. We arrived at around 10:15, which is about 15 minutes early, at gate 2B.
I got out, and walked around a bit. I like all of the Southwest and ATA ops at MDW
, so I sat around for a bit, watching the planes.
I got something to eat and headed back over to the gate where I would catch my 2:45 PM
departure back to Mpls.
NORTHWEST AIRLINES FLIGHT 185
SCHED DEP: MDW AT
SCHED ARR: MSP AT
AIRCRAFT: AIRBUS A-320
Boarding began a little earlier than I expected, and when I got to the gate at around 2:20, they took my boarding pass, walked down the jetway where I was greeted by a smiling flight attendant at the door, and I took my seat at 9F. I love the Airbus cabins because they are so wide. We departed about 10 minutes early, and also got into Minneapolis early. The flight attendants came around again with pretzels and drinks. I took a Pepsi, and pretzels and looked out of the window for a while. I got the WorldTraveler magazine again, and read for a few minutes. There were actually interesting articles (at least for me) including; the Minnesota Twins and Torii Hunter, and another article about Berlin among other things. Richard Anderson (NW CEO) discussed NW
new service out of MKE
, and the new A330 in his column. I was thirsty after reading, so I hit the call button, and asked the flight attendant if she had any more Pepsi, and she came back with a whole can (which was nice considering what I have been getting lately, are you listening American?). We landed about 20 minutes early at MSP
's Gate G17.
Overall, my experience was nothing out of the ordinary. A typical NW
experience in my opinion: Good service, efficient check-in options, and on time flights. I can't think of anything else I would need.
Total Score for NW
BTW, I didn't get the registration numbers of the a/c, hopefully next time I will.
The New American is arriving.
