MHT-BWI-MHT 9/6

Sun Sep 07, 2003 1:10 pm

as a birthday gift, my wife suggested we spend a day in Baltimore, which we've talked about doing for a while..I haven't been there for a few years,
and I've talked frequently about the inner harbor area..so..we booked WN
for today, with an internet fare of $68/each roundtrip

9/6 MHT-BWI WN 338 N781SW New Mexico 1 737-700

We left home for MHT at 6:40 for the 8AM flight, and were in the parking
garage by 6:53 (we live in Litchfield, NH)..got to the terminal, used a kiosk
for a boarding pass (A group!) and headed for Security, stopping to get a
cup of coffee and a donut..got through Security no problem (well, my
wife was "wanded") and headed for the gate after a brief conference on
whether or not to eat our donut before entering security or after (we opted
for the former)

Sched Departure 8AM
Boarded at 7:45 and grabbed seats 1A and C
Actual depature 8:02, and launched from RW6 at 8:09
Sched arrival 9:15
actual arrival 9:15
A pleasant flight, about 75% full, with a pleasant and talkative flight deck
crew and a pleasant, though not too talkative cabin crew. I availed myself
of the offered juice (orange) while the missus snoozed. A beautiful day to fly,
with a great view as we overflew NYC..a few bumps but nothing to get
excited about. The flight deck informed us at 8:25 that we'd reached cruising
altitude of 35,000 feet..though we didn't linger there for long.

We touched down on 33L at 9:10 and were at the gate at 9:15

We got through the terminal to the light rail station at BWI to board a waiting
train to take us to the Inner Harbor area

I'll not bore y'all with the day spent at the Inner Harbor, though we had a wonderful time eating, wandering around and just enjoying the beautiful day.

At 5:33 we boarded the Light Rail after a 2 block walk where we encountered Oriole fans heading towards the beautiful Camden Yards, and arrived at BWI
at 6PM.

BWI-MHT 733 (didn't get the tail number)
sched departure 8:15, actual 8:15
scheduled arrival 9:30..actual arrival 9:25PM
Boarding passes at the kiosk again, and once again Group A
This flight carried 99 passengers, a fact we gleaned by listening to the
Ops Agent and the flight attendants)

We boarded at 7:45PM and the plane had some thru passengers already
on board..my wife (who likes the front row) grabbed the first seat available,
3D and I was rather surprised to see rear facing seats, one of which I
wound up with to my chagrin. After whining that I don't like to fly in reverse, the missus and I switched seats..

Pushback at 8:15 on the money, a taxi out to what I believe was 15R and
launched at 8:26..a beautiful view as we climbed out..clear all the way
which allowed our neighbor passengers to view various fireworks displays
en route..quite a sight to see..other than that an uneventful flight, though
the cabin crew was quite vocal and funny..Various sports related discussions ensued between one FA and some passengers..beverages..I had a diet
coke, while my lovely travelling companion had coffee..

at about 8:50 we were told we were at 37,000 feet, and remained there
briefly..

Descent and approach uneventul, and we touched down on RWY 6 at
9:25 and taxied to gate 2B. Normally, we can be home 15 minutes after
stepping off the plan, but we encountered our former seatmates outside
the terminal and had some fun conversation, and after a quick stop at a
convenience store, we were home about 10:15.

All in all a nice, but tiring, day in Baltimore and aboard WN and utlizing that
wonderful airport, MHT.

it and couldn't find it..I'll welcome any corrections.

With apologies to the mods for too many posts, I edited my first post to
indicate a 737-700..I was searching the tail number as a -300. I thought
for sure the nacelles were -300's, but perhaps get a good look.
