Because of construction work we had to go in the airport in the arrivals area, take the luggage upstairs then get it all x-rayed before checking in at one of the 7 desks. After checking in, it was only an hour before departure, I went straight to gate 21 which is the last gate in the terminal. Because of the lack of time there wasn't time to check out the shops, but the airport was clean, though not very spacious.

We boarded and found out it was a 737-400, though I'm not sure of the registration.

We had to go through first class to get to the seats, I was on the aisle on the back row. Handy for getting to the toilets first after the meal  Laugh out loud

We taxied to the runway which took a long time, passing a few nice looking SU aircraft in the new livery:

The seats were very comfortable and wide and the cabin was quite clean.
After we took off they showed an Aeroflot film. An SU aircraft was flying when a man went though a window and got stuck in it. The half of him outside was frozen and he had to be defrosted when they landed shortly after on a motorway... a man said when they landed "thank you brave Russian pilot, we'll fly Aeroflot again".
Not a good choice of film...

The food came around, chicken in a tomato sauce with rice. Delicious!! After that I just sat there until we landed.

We came in low over central London, going over the London eye, Big Ben and other places which were all lit up nicely. There were also lots of fireworks going off all over London which looked great from the sky, I'd never seen so many fireworks go off before and I hadn't seen them from this angle either.

We landed on time and got off at gate 12 in T2 before going down to collect the baggage, and then that was it.

Aeroflot was great, the service was good, the seats were comfy, but the entertainment wasn't very good.

Were they friendly?
I fly SU Trans-Atlantic and find them to be very good... Now if they would improve their honesty and their FFP....

The drinks on Pulkovo & Aeroflot were the same - water/juice/wine/beer (possibly), with tea/coffee/water with the meal.

I wouldn't say friendly.. compared with airlines like Monarch, Britannia, MyTravel Lite etc. they didn't smile or talk much. Actually, I don't remember seeing any smiles.

Nice report...interesting to hear about Aeroflot.

An SU aircraft was flying when a man went though a window and got stuck in it. The half of him outside was frozen and he had to be defrosted when they landed shortly after on a motorway... a man said when they landed "thank you brave Russian pilot, we'll fly Aeroflot again".

What the hell...?  Laugh out loud I didn't even know SU's planes had IFE.

Yeah the 737s and 777s have IFE and probably the 767s also.

On my 737 flight in 1999 they even had IFE.

The IFE would have been better if that film wasn't on  Big grin But it was better than nothing!
