ATL-BOS-ATL On DL...1st Report

Wed Nov 26, 2003 2:32 am

I've been meaning to post my first trip report for a while, but I've just now found the time...

I had to go home suddenly because of a death in the family. My dad was able to get me on DL for a direct flight to BOS on short notice thanks to a bunch of FF miles and about $150.00, much better than having to get a connecting flight for a less than 72 hour trip...

anyway I left Athens GA (I go to UGA) at 330am to be at ATL in plenty of time for my 620am flight. It was a Sunday morning so the MD-88(in widgets) was not even half full which was great because there was no one next to me, well other than the galley but I was to tired to move from my seat. The flight was smooth as silk. The F/A's had to be loving it, they spent half the time sitting behind me talking about their contracts and how they have been screwed on getting flights. I could tell that they were somewhat disgruntled from the minute I stepped on board, but it was no problem at all. My only other complaint was that the interior need some work...It was clean, but the seat in front of me was torn as were others I noticed as I got off the plane.

We landed in Boston right on time on an approach from the north (this was the first time I can remember flying into BOS from the south and having to circle up to the north of the city and come in). As we were landing there was a BA 777 holding for its flight to LHR...I watched as that big bird took off, what an awesome sight. I also got to see my first SONG 757 up close which was cool

I had another early flight out of BOS to go back to ATL at 6am on Tuesday morning. This might as well have been the business travelers express. All I saw getting onto the 767-300 were suits and brief cases. I saw easily the youngest person on board by like 20 years (I'm 19). The plane was about 75-80% full. I got stuck next to a rather large gentleman, but luckily there was an entire row open in the middle section, so he got that and I again had both seats to myself.

I figured out on this trip how mail travels so far so fast...Container after container went into the 767 with 'U.S. MAIL" all over them...I could tell that there was not much baggage since a lot of the guys on board had garment bags or a small over night bag.

I think we weren't more than 10 mins into the flight and I was out like a light. I woke up about 20 mins before landing. I had a great view of Stone Mountain and of course the Ford Factory that I think we are going to hit every time landing at ATL. The pilot came on and said that we were to be put into a holding pattern for about 20 mink, and there were some groans from the people around me. But then he came back about two mins later and said that we were clear for landing, so that worked out great. We parked at Terminal A, a short train ride to baggage claim and my bag was there waiting for me...It got there so fast cause I was probably the only person to check anything

The flights could not have gone any better. I really like DL or FL out of ATL to BOS. They offer non-stop flights and with good fares...Thanks to FL. I would rather fly into PVD but since DL jacks up the prices to where ever FL doesn't fly, that can't happen. I hope that FL chooses PVD soon, but in the mean time BOS is good too.

That was a great first trip report. My condolences about the death in your family. Hope you keep writing trip reports (and maybe they can be about happier trips)  Smile
