This will not be a detailed report. Just the basics.

Background: I flew to CPH to pick up my RTW, as it is much cheaper from there. Used a SS to upgrade LAX-IAD-LHR. LHR-CPH was in paid C.

IAD-LAX, UA 777, C
Great breakfast flight. I chose the eggs as opposed to the fruit plate. The servings seems to big larger than they were on my last b-fast flight.

IAD-LHR, UA 744, C

Pre-flight: I didn't bother with the RCC, and went over to see if I could use the SK lounge. Alas, that lounge seems to be contracted, and not a *G lounge. Still, I enjoyed the shopping over in that terminal better. On to the flight.
Ah, seat 15a! It really makes a difference. The intimacy and the legroom are superb. Menus, amenity kits, headphones. Some of the best F/A's I've ever had. The chicken was tender. The Port was sweet. The dessert was delicious, and the breakfast was simple (no hot food). FA's were constantly there filling water, offering coffee etc.

London Lounge lives up to its reputation. Great shower. Only set-back was the three kids (6 year olds) screaming in the game area.
Flight was simple. Deli plate and poor coffee.

CPH-MAN, SK 737 C (first leg of RTW)
CPH is such a great airport. I had to exit security to go to the ticket office to purchase my RTW. It was fast and easy. Once purchased, I asked about getting the earlier flight to MAN. The agent smiled and said, "Usually you can't change the first leg, but you just bought this, so no prob." She rebooked me and stickered my ticket. When's the last time a US carrier put a sticker on the ticket!
I was getty groggy by this point. Just one more leg to go. Time in the SK lounge , which is a great facility. Uneventful flight. I slept most of the time. Another deli plate. Chocolates for dessert.

I stayed at the MAN Hilton. Boy, was I tired. I slept until I woke up. My watch said 5:00 am local time. I called home, and realized that it was realyl 12am local time. It was all surreal!

Check in was a schlep. I was grilled because I am on a RTW ticket.
Security did not like that I had flown LAX-IAD-LHR-CPH to pick up my ticket, and that I was returning the next day. Security did not like that I was a rabbi. "When's the last time you were in Israel?" he asked.
Security did not like that a rabbi had so many nice gadgets (a palm pilot, a camcorder, etc). Security said, "In Islam, our leaders don't make enough to afford this." I really didn't appreciate it, but hey, what could I do?
Security asked for my passport, and then for a secondary form of ID. He saw that I was a 1k and said, "Give me your card. This will help your case."
I had my bag inspected. I was questioned. And I was sent to the ticket counter. Mind you, I cooperated fully the whole time, and didn't raise a stink, though I wanted to. Boy, last time I experienced this much grilling was when I went to Canada!

BD uses a contract lounge in MAN. No at all as nice as their own lounges.
BD's transatlantic product is amazing. This was my second C flight with them on this route, and it lives up to my memory. Every passenger had a free seat next to him/ her. Amentiy kits are large, fun, and filled with usefull stuff. (I must say that this kit is not as nice as the one I got two years ago, but still much better that the competition). Large hot towels. Nice drinks. Personal attention from purser. Succulent food choices. "Mad Hatter" tea service (I've never seen tea service like this on a plane before... all the fixings, and the presentation would make the Queen proud). Flight went by very fast. Into O'hare at 12:30. In a cab to visit my grandparents by 12:50!

Four hours later, it was back to ORD.

A typical flight that was above and beyond. Let's just say that with 4 dinner choices, exceptional flight crew, silky smooth ride.... it was a nice final leg.

It was great to be in my own bed last night!

Man all those flights, so you had a good time on UAL? It sounds like it.

nice report, sometimes a trip that long just the basics is all you need.

US carriers are not allowed to sticker tickets anymore. They usually just accept a flight coupon for another or reissue the ticket.
