Check In

I must give my most praise to the check in area at Manchester. Its very large, was still in Airtours colours but they were starting to refurbish. Got there pretty early and it was a ghost town.

Boarding commenced at about 16:15 1 hour from departure. The plane was parked at a double airport's, so the first 8 rows including myself were boarded firstly.

On Board Before Departure

Row 6 was nice, good view of the left hand engine with the new colours it looked very good.

First impressions of the inside were very nice actually, the aircraft had been refurbished recently and had new mytravel seats.

Taxi And Take Off

The safety video was shown, animated dummies and a little kid talking you through it. There was various farmyard animals talking on the demo as well.

Before I knew it a sudden thrust of power and 24R take off was commenced. Banking to the right straight after take off and the usual Whine of the Rolls Royce engines as the power was decreased.

Onboard Inflight

The first thing I did notice was the lack of sophisticated onboard entertainment. Thomas cook offer TV's that drop down under the bins, however G-PIDS a 1983 model had them in the aisle. A TV selection was shown and before I knew it, it was tea time.

The decent into pafos was very smooth commencing just after Rhodes which is unusually early. The cabin crew rushed about and then 10 minutes to landing was announced.

Landing and Taxi

We landed eventually 20 minutes early which I was pleased with. However we waited at the gate for 10 minutes for some steps to arrive, and the APU failed for a short while and there were only emergency lights. It also soon got very warm with night time temperatures of 20 degrees in Cyprus.

The pafos terminal is very small, and there is always a long queue of Russians at the customs desks. Baggage reclaim was very fast, and then we was on our way to the resort.
