Got back this afternoon after 5 days in Las Vegas.

United Flt. 1221
My Dad, his co-worker and I got to CMH
at about 4pm for our 6:05pm flight to Denver. My dad and company were going to conferences in Las Vegas, so I decided to tag along. $212 I had to shell out, but I got 4 nights of free hotel at Caesar's Palace.
At any rate, Port Columbus wasn't terribly busy being a Saturday, and we breezed through check-in and security in about 20 minutes total. Got to gate B29 about an hour before boarding. After an AA MD
-80 left for DFW
, it was pretty dead, and it looked like it wouldn't be a full flight. To my surprise, UAL 1221 was 100% full.
We pushed on-time for a 6:05 departure. After a quick taxi to 10L, we had to hold for some traffic, a Southwest 737 and a AC
Jazz Dash-8. After that, our 737-300 rocketed eastbound before turning north to follow a different-than-normal routing, presumably for weather. I was having a good time listening to Channel 9, which the captain had nicely turned on.
I could hear the pilots requesting several different cruising altitutes to get a smooth ride, and we went between FL310 and FL350 on several occasions. There was standard drink service and a small snack pack (pretzels and other things, I imagine), which I was not hungry enough to eat. I kept tuned in to ATC, and heard our flight would be landing on runway 35R. All the way down our final, there was a Frontier 733 off our left side, a pretty sight. We touched down 5 minutes early and taxiied to Concourse B.
10/10 On-time, no complaints

Seat 11A EXIT ROW
Man, another jam-packed United flight. Suprisingly, my dad requested a seat change so we could sit together, and they gave us an exit row. Holy cow, there was a ton of room. I could completely stretch my legs and not touch the seat in front. Thanks United!
We pushed on-time from A44 and made a quick taxi to runway 25 and departed on-the-roll. Channel 9 was on once again, making the flight evem more enjoyable. We cruised smoothly at FL350 all the way there. There was drink service, but I don't recall any snack. The F/A accidently showed most of 'Miracle' (the hockey team movie), instead of episodes of a show.
The only glitch of this flight was some spacing problems into LAS
where we had to go around, but we still arrived 3 minutes early. Landing runway was originally 25L but we sidestepped to 25R. Taxiied to the D gates and took the tram to get our bags.
Another 10/10. The exit row was a special treat for a once-a-year flyer like myself, and the Channel 9 is always great.

Load - 90-95%
We got to McCarren a nick before 4am local time and sleep-walked over to United's self check-in kiosks. They don't open until 4:15am. No sweat. When they did open, it took all of 90 seconds to get our boarding passes printed and another 90 seconds to have our bags checked. The normal check-in line looked to be at least an hour wait.
The dreaded LAS
security Caesar's said to allow 3 hours for, took 2 minutes at the MOST to get through this early in the morning. We found a small coffee stand and had coffee, water, and a danish.
Our ride to Denver was already at D37. I was in 23F this time, boarding group 3. This flight was 90-95% full. I had the middle seat open, and one of my dad's business buddies has one open as well. We pushed on-time, with LIGHT RAIN washing our aircraft. We made a quick taxi to runway 25R, with ATC describing Level 4 and 5 weather over the mountains. I could see intermittent flashes of lightning off our wing. We made a powerful departure off 25R, and I had a magnificent view of the Strip.
We cruised at FL370, for our short 1hr 20min flight. There was drink service, but again I don't recall any snack. We arrived in Denver 10 minutes early, but a minor jetway problem negated any gained time. No problem there. Another fine flight, with Channel 9 on once more.
We had an hour and a half layover in Denver so I decided to check out the walkway between A and B. Pretty slick. We had to switch concourses again, from A to B, with our departing flight from B45. 3 F/As that were going to be working our flight, were about 10-15 min. late coming from another flight, so we were a little behind. After a late push, we taxied out to runway 8 and made a quick departure.
Our captain said flight time would be a quick 2 hours 19 minutes, but VP
Cheney would be arriving, and he was slightly worried we'd be put in a pattern. Turned out to be no problem. I didn't catch our final cruising altitude, as Channel 9 wasn't turned on, which was kind of a bummer. It was cloudy the entire way, not too much of a view. I could see some larger buildups as we got closer to Columbus, but the ride was smooth. There was the standard drink and snack service, along with a movie, which I paid no attention to, sorry. We overflew OSU
airport and went slighty north of CMH
on our decent.
is near the right side.
As we were getting close to turning back towards CMH
, I could see several aircraft ahead of us in sequence. There was a giant dark storm cell east of CMH
, and we turned just west of it.
Our Airbus 320 landed on runway 28R and taxiied to gate Bravo 28. Despite the delay in DEN
, we actually were about on-time.
7/10 Slight delay in DEN
, No Channel 9, Baggage was extremely pokey in getting to the baggage claim (~20 minutes).
All-in-all, My dad, his 2 co-workers and I all had a great time on United/TED. No major problems to report, United got us where we needed to go in good order. The exit row given to us was a huge surprise, and a real treat.
I'm a Boeing enthusiant, but damn those Airbii are QUIET and smooth. Very enjoyable.
I hope the pictures work. If they don't, if someone could help me out that would be great. I hope you like my report! Thanks.
