My Dad and I decided to take a quick trip to California to for the Airliners Collectible Convention at the Gateway Hotel. We were only staying for one night at my Aunt and Uncle's condo in Redondo Beach, California. Comments Are Welcome!
July 8, 2004
I woke up at 3:00am and showered and gathered all my things and at about 3:45am my Dad and I were on the road going to Chicago Midway Airport for our 6:30am departure to Denver. We got to the airport at about 4:45am and we parked in the Red Parking lot and took the free shuttle bus to the Terminal. We went upstairs to ticketing to discover nobody at all in the Frontier line. We went in and I showed the agent my passport and my Dad showed her his drivers licence. They checked us in strangely because one agent checked me in another checked my Dad in. We were on the same reservation! Weird. Our two small duffel bags were checked through to LAX
and we got our boarding passes for MDW
as well as DEN
We headed through security and wandered around MDW
for a while we went to the B Concourse
which is so much nicer that it is all redone. We went to Gate A2, a gate without windows
and sat for about 10 minutes before the super-friendly agent began boarding. We boarded the 737-300. N313FL.
We sat down in Row 13, seats D and E. We just sat there for about 20 minutes and the nice f/a crew came around with blankets and pillows and then closed all the overhead bins and gave announcements. We sat for about another 15 minutes with the door still open and the flight deck door was also open. They finally closed both doors and we pushed back and took off about five minutes later.

We took off 10 minutes late, but it would not affect anything. One thing I noticed is that the flight attendants all had different uniforms! One had a pilots uniform on, another had black pants, purple shirt, black vest, and another had an all black one on, she also had a whistle. Anyone know why she had a whistle? Anyway, the aircraft had TV
's mounted over the aisles but they were not used.
The seats were very comfortable. They served a full can of drink (I had nothing, because I had a bottle of water) and a granola bar. Flying time was about 2 hours and 20 minutes. We landed early in Denver and parked at Gate A38.
We went to Gate A36 and saw that we had time we walked around DEN
. It is a very nice airport. We went up a level to the BA
club and it has a great overview of the Frontier A Concourse.
We went to that famous bridge that connects the A Concourse to the Jeppesen Terminal, but no aircraft taxied under us
We did see our aircraft at Gate A36.
We decided to go to our Gate, and similar to Terminal One at ORD
, the Gate Signs told where the aircraft was going. We went to A36 where our flight to Los Angeles was leaving from.
and about 5 minutes later we boarded N905FL
The aircraft was really clean and had nice green seats with PTV! I loved the LiveMap that was shown
here is it with us still on the ground in DEN
. They do charge $5 dollars, but you get all the channels for free until you get to crusing. If you choose not to buy it, you get the LiveMap and Ads on it the entire flight.

Airbus A319, N905FL, Seat 21A
I got comfy in the second to last row in Seat 21A. We got to crusing fast and flight time was announced at 1 hour and 50 minutes. They served warm plain or cinnamon raisin bagels with cream cheese. I got a full can of orange juice too.
We had some great scenery and we landed early and arrived at gate 35 in Terminal Three. Bags were already there when we got there and we left the old baggage claim area and met my aunt and went sightseeing and stuff.
The next day we went to AI
2004. It was great fun and all the stuff there was so cool. We bought some models and safety cards. We bought my cousin Emily (ssshhh...it's a surprise
) a barbie doll dressed up as a United Flight Attendant with a bev. cart and cups and stuff. She is a f/a for Air Wisconsin. We left the convention on the hotel shuttle with a bunch of WN
crew all talking about how the elevator got stuck.
The shuttle driver dropped us off in frot of Terminal Three and we checked in again with no line. Security was fine and we ate subs at Starbucks before going to Gate 31A. The incoming flight was late so we were deleyed. We got on and we sat for a while. We were afraid we would miss our connection!

Airbus A319, Reg U/N
We took off and had 1 hour 30 minute crusing. We were served sun chips and drink. We asked the f/a if we could make our connection, and she told us that there was no way that she would know. She was really snotty too. Maybe she was just having a bad day. She seemed to be nicer toward the end of the flight. We landed at Gate A28 and looked at the monitors that had the WRONG information! They said that the flight had already left. We ran like hell to Gate A38 only to find that the Chicago flight was also deleyed due to a broken armrest. We walked to McDonalds for dinner and watched the train leave. We went back and boarded at Gate A38. g78.photobucket.com/albums/v244/PatrickS/boardinDEn.jpg">

We took off late after a UA
A320 and before a Beech 1900. The f/a crew were great giving us drinks and sun chips. The f/a was being really funny in the safety demo saying things like I'm Behind and she put the oxygen mask on and yelled "Wow it smells in there" and people thought it was funny. We had a good smooth flight and I watched the sun go down. g78.photobucket.com/albums/v244/PatrickS/boardinDEn.jpg"> We landed 35 minutes late at MDW
and deplaned at Gate A2, where our adventure started. Bags were found at Baggage Claim 6.
One thing I don't really like about the MDW
bags is that it only lists the originating city of the flight- so it said Frontier 546- San Diego until some airports where you get every city. Oh well. Took the shuttle and drove home..
I liked Frontier. They offered a good first experence. When I go back to LAX
i'll look at them.
