After driving down to PHL with Josh and Brian I enjoyed a very productive day of spotting down there. I think I have pictures of the entire US fleet on my CF card right now. Alas, all good things must come to an end. After a very delicious dinner of real philly cheesesteaks at Josh's former school we made our way to PHL so that I could get home.
After getting dropped off by Vic (who also waited with Futterman until I was definately on the flight, huge thanks!) I first stopped by a restroom to change out of the t-shirt and shorts I was wearing for the day. Security screening was no biggie at all. I collected al my belongings and made my way to the gate, B16. I even met up with one of the flight attendents I usually see at work. She was on her way to LGA as well. I didn't really like the terminal at PHL. Granted, it was a lot bigger than here at LGA but it was also not cared for as nicely as ours is. I had about a 10 minute walk from security to the gate.
When I got to the gate I spoke to an agent to inquire about my status as a nonrev. He told me that I "should" get on the flight. I was glad that I bought an upgrade voucher for F class (thanks Ron and Aurie for the advice). I was stil kind of nervous, I really did not want to get stuck in PHL for the night. While talking to my friend the FA I found out how golden my airline ID really is. She offered to show me if we needed to get a hotel that night. I'm kind of hoping that one day she might live up to that promise.
Once the boarding agents finally got to the gate and started check in things went farely quickly. We did have to wait 15 minutes for revenue pax coming off of international flights. Once they got on we nonrevs were allowed on as well. I used my voucher simply because I had had a long day and was tired. The extra room was very nice. Cabin service was brief, just drinks and snacks were offerred.
I really don't remember most of the flight, I was asleep for a lot of it. I woke up just as the pilots were interceping the LDA A approach to 22. I really love this approach as you fly over the Hudson river and then make a U-turn over the bronx to intercept the runway 22 localizer. Although, it's not as great as the river visual to 13...! We landed and taxiid into the terminal, parking at gate 12. All in all, it was a great flight. I really enjoyed sharing it with Aliana, and really enjoyed the F class service on US!
