BOS-FLL-BOS Song 15-19NOV04 (pics)

BOS-FLL departure gate C31
SONG DL2076 N645DL
scheduled departure: 11:15am (actual ~11:45am)
scheduled arrival 2:26pm (actual ~2:35pm)

Song operates 757-200s in a single-class layout. Everything is more
or less the same except that the cabin crew are much more
friendlier, smile more, and are much more welcoming. The cabin is
very colorful with leather seats.

Upon arriving at the gate around 10:30am and not seeing any aircraft, it was clear the arriving aircraft was running behind and that's exactly what the large LCD screens indicated. The gate agent also made an informal yet informative announcement that the inbound aircraft left FLL late, but that there not many people to offload neither to board and that the turn would be rather quick.

It sure wasn't the classic 20-minute SWA turn but within a 1/2 hour we were back out for a quick taxi to runway 27 and airborne after holding for one arriving aircraft. Our flying time was under 2h30 mins ... and we ended up at the gate only 10 minutes late ... very interesting how those "schedules" work  Big grin

FLL-BOS gate D8
SONG DL2004 N6717
scheduled departure: 10:45am (actual 10:42am)
scheduled arrival: 1:46pm (actual 1:52pm)

Everything on schedule again for the return flight (I'm not going to be picky for 2 minutes!). This time at the gate, the agent was in Song uniform ... and a few minutes before the start of pre-boarding, a Song flight attendant came out to make some announcements concerning the flight as well as the reminders on carry on items. The tone was very welcoming, friendly, and spontaneous. Pre-boarding started promptly at 10:15am and the rest of the aircraft was boarded by ZONES (1-5).

My aircraft back to BOS, N6717

On board, passengers were greeted by the F/A at the door and then a male flight attendant with peppy / perky / spontaneous annoucements about a passenger's 100th birthday ... and how her parents are travelling with her. LOL! The door was closed early (as the flight was not full) and we pushed back a few minutes ahead of schedule. The safety demonstration was different from that of my first flight in that there was a pre-recorded voice and the F/A's did the demos. The tape that played was a latin-salsa theme with some voice that sounds like some "cheech" with the typical latino accent LOL, dunno how to describe it!

At the threshold of runway 9, we had about a 15 minute hold before take off because of arriving flights ... so that wait actually took time away from our "on time arrival". With a flying time of about 2h40 mins, we arrived about 5 mins late into the gate in BOS, but no big deal. No big dramas with the flights, so I was far from complaining!

As for the service, well, there's only the non-alcoholic drinks
which are "on the house" (free). If you are hungry, however, there
is food-for-sale. The food is only sandwhiches, turkey, chicken,
vegetarian ...) which actually aren't bad. Nope, I did not
contribute $8 to Song, but I have tasted the sandwhiches before at
the GateGourmet kitchen in Boston lol. Alcholic drinks are available
for $5, the rest (Coke, juice, coffee) is free. The cabin crew comes
around about three times offering more drinks and picking up trash.
The best part is the PTVs at each seat ... with headseats free of
charge (cool ones too). The television channels are all LIVE. There
are 24 channels of TV, of which CNN, NBC, MSNBC, FoxNews, Food
Network, Cartoon Network, E, TravelChannel and so on ... there are
two movies available for purchase at $5. The TV is activated
immediately after push back.

All in all a positive experience with Song. The cabin crew seems so much more friendly and welcoming on board. The all-important smile factor was way up there, something I appreciate very much. A far cry from mainline Delta, sorry to say. I would never pay for food on board, but the TV thing is verrrrrry cool. I spent 2 hours each way watching the FoodNetwork lol.

I'll definitely be spreading the word about Song (I have yet to have the jetBlue experience)!

Perhaps someone might be kind enough to help me out?

I have followed the suggestions from a.net , but must be really stupid lol. I've managed before ... but doesn't look like it's working this time.

My photos are in my yahoo album on line ... perhaps that has something to do with it?
