9W 458- HYDBOM - 737-800
A thoroughly unremarkable flight. 80% full. My colleague had a JP gold status, so was able to check in at an empty Club class counter although both of us were flying economy. This is the las flight of Jet in the morning so everyone was in a relaxed mood. The Jet Club Class Lounge had only a few passengers , and was manned by the ITC Grand Kakatiya people. There was a buffet breakfast available.
Had only handbaggage and were returning the same evening, so asked for return checkin at HYD, and the same was done without fuss.
Had an emergency exit seat and the crew made a proper briefing. The captain caome on the PA twice, once before take off and enroute. The flight was delayed 15 min, Reason given was the standard "late arrival of incoming aircraft".
The only irritating thing was the number of security checks. Looks like the CIA had passed on a special message to Jet, atleast the way the number of checks were being carried out. In addition to the check for cabin baggage at the gate, just before boarding the bus (no aerobridge although both were available), everyone was asked to open the handbaggage by Jet Security staff to get another decoration in both our boarding pass and cabin baggage. If one thought that was the end, then inside the aircraft, everyone was asked to identify their handbaggage again. In this case what was the whole point of Jet staff opening up every bag before u board the bus???
The flight did not make up time and we landed 15 min late at 1130. The flight was operating HYD-BOM_GOI and the GOI pax were asked to remain seated. But there seemed to be hardly anyone travelling there from HYD (and now that Deccan has started a daily HYD-GOI nonstop, I doubt they will get too many either).
Was bussed to the terminal since we didnt get an aerobridge. Therewas an IranAir along with a SQ parked on the international apron as well as an AirDeccan ATR and a 320 (with a NDTV ad painted on the fuselage!).
All in all a pretty unremarkable flight. Pluses were the enthusiastic cabincrew as well as the clear and matter of fact announcements form the flight deck.
The food was snacks - tasty and quantity just right for a midmorning snack.
Now only if the security chaps in Jet get less obsessed with the whispered hints from the CIA or FBI or the Mossad or what not, it would have been even more enjoyable!
First tim I was flying Jet out of HYD and the service definitely is a notch above both IC and Air Deccan from this station.
