Well booking the flights was dead easy and the new feature of the bmibaby reservation system is that you can prebook specific seat numbers on the website free of charge which I found fantastic! I pre-booked seats just behind the wing to get all the flap movements in. The night before departure i night stopped at East Midlands airport in the Holiday Inn Express because getting to East Midlands isn't easy at the best of times let alone at the crack of dawn! We proceeded over to bmibaby check in, there was no queue so this was done dead fast. We recieved our boarding cards, complete with our pre-reserved seating. After breakfast and a visit to the fantastic model shop here at east midlands, we proceeded through departures. On the ground we saw a thomsonfly 757-200 G-BYAH which departed for Alicante, Thomson.co.uk 757-200 G-BYAO which departed to Tenerife, Thomas Cook.com A320 G-BXKC parked on remote stand, bmibaby 737-300 G-OJTW which departed bound for Malaga, and sister G-OBGE 737-300 bound for Alicante. Foxy baby 737-500 G-BVKB departed for Jersey and our flight G-BVZE "Little Costa Baby" was almost ready for boarding as an EasyJet 737-300 G-IGOK landed on R27.
The passenger I was traveling with is unfortunatly visualy impared, so we was preboarded with another passenger who was travelling with an infant. The whole turn around from this babies previous flight was so fast yet everything looked like the thing had nightstopped! Really clean and very comfortable as we settled in for the flight to Prague. With all passengers onboard, and this flight was almost full - doors were closed and we pushed back. The safety demo was completed not long after, we had two female crew and one male in the cabin and two males upfront (haha i wish i could say that more often...)
We turned on the active, just short of another bmibaby 737-500 touching down, and we roared our way out the pram and into the skies making a hard left just outside of NEMA. Our routing took us over Leicester, down to Central London, Over Southend and into Belgium, Over Germany into the Czech airspace and down into Prague. Shortly after departure the crew came around with drinks and snacks which were expensive but hey, thats low cost carriers for you. The flight was smooth, very clear view of London's Docklands and London City Airport and indeed Southend! We had some turbulance over Germany and had a float down to earth again, Landing very smoothly earlier than our estimated landing time.
We disembarked through an airbridge, adjecent to a norweigen 737-300 (LN-KKQ), and a EU JET (EI-DFC) fokker 100 from Kent/Manston. Also on the ground was a FlyBaboo Dash 8 HB-JEJ and endless number of CSA Czech Airlines 737-500/400's and A310's.
The flight was fantastic, really friendly service and couldn't fault any area of the bmibaby service. This isn't the first time i've flown with them and indeed wont be the last (mainly because i need to fly home too!).

After two fantastic nights in Prague, unfortunatly it was time to return back to the UK, but it did mean another good experience with bmibaby! We went back to Prague airport a little early because our hotel check out time was 1100 anyway so found ourselves in the resturant a while before check in would have been open. When we did get to check in (approx two hours before the flight was due to depart) the queue was huge! We must have been one of the last to check in, but as we had already pre-allocated the window seat i wasn't worried. When we got to the front of the queue the very nice lady asked if my friend required any assistance but we just asked for preboarding again, because depsite the prebooked seat thing people still are in a mad rush to get on planes and crush people these days!
Once onboard, we had to wait a while before any movement becuase some bags had yet to be loaded on to the aircraft and some paperwork had to be finalised, but once this was complete we pushed away from stand B1. The aircraft on the ground was from the same carriers as there was when we arrived, same times not much different other than a TAP flight bound for Lisbon via Budapest. Crew onboard todays flight consisited of two females and one male in the cabin, with two males on the flightdeck.
We taxied to the active, and lined up after the departure of a Czech 737-400 bound for London Heathrow. Full thrust was used, and we rotated in 32 seconds from take off role. Once airborne we climbed very steep and made our way for the German Border. From here we woule route Belgium - Southern English Coast - North London - Luton - Midlands - Nottingham East Midlands.
The bar/food service came round just before duty free goods. Pretty basic stuff really, same as most low costs. The skies were perfectly clear and we was alongside other aircraft which left some amazing contrails to look at. Will have to put photos on here sometime!! Decent into Nottingham came just as the low winter sun began to set and with the faint cloud which was forming, gave a great sunset as we landed. We touched down very hard on R27 and turned off with flaps fully extended and spoilers up. On the ground was a Thomson.co.uk Boeing 767-300 (G-OBYB which i went on this year), and AH the thomsonfly.com 757-200. The Thomas Cook A320 was still on that remote stand, Britannia 757-200 G-BYAI had just arrived from Malaga. Bmibaby 737-500 G-BZVI had recently arrived from Tolouse as had an EasyJet 737 from unknown. We disembarked from the rear exit and made our way through customs with the AGP and TLS passengers. Our flight parked on the Domestic stand to operate the next bmibaby flight bound for Edinburgh. I went back to the model shop and got two more hehe before making my way home via the pub!
Perfect opertations from NEMA and PRG with WW. Cant wait to fly them again, and indeed from BHX when services commence on 07th Jan 2005. This baby is better behaved than some adults i know thats for sure!!
