LAS-SAN On SWA R/T With Pics

Okay, the big day had finally come and it was time to fly to San Diego. Southwest Airlines enables its passengers to check-in online at starting at 12:01 am on the day of departure until 1 hour prior to departure. I couldnt sleep very well, so I was up until midnight-ish (even though I had to get up early) so I checked in online. It was very simple and straight-forward. I just put in the confirmation code, my last name and bingo there it was. I printed the boarding passes and we were in boarding group "A", the first group to board the airplane. I was happy to receive A because I didnt want to end up in the middle seat. Anyways, we drove to the airport and stood outside in a fairly long but quick moving line to check our bags at the curbside. All went well and we headed out to gate C2. Security was easy to get through and soon all there was left to do was wait for the flight. Boarding began late, even though the aircraft was already there and deplaned from the previous flight. It didnt bother me though because I had a new IPOD  Smile Anyways, we got on the plane during A Boarding and I took a seat in the rear of the aircraft in the window. I love sitting behind the wing so I can see the flaps and the spoilers working during the flight. We left just about 5 minutes late and the F/A's ran through the safety procedure. We taxied over to runway 25R and immeaditely took off with a nice view of the Las Vegas Strip (and my house) on the right hand side of the plane. It was a very long take off roll. We must have been very heavy with luggage. The flight was 100 % full. We made a small turn to the left and got underway to San Diego for our very short 1 Hour flight. I was just about to get a coke but the pilot came on and told the F/A's to sit down because of turbulence. Oh well, not their fault. It was in fact very bumpy too. All the way until landing. We made our descent into San Diego and landed into San Diego to the west. The buildings came very close during final approach and its a very neat airport to land at. I also saw our cruise ship out the window on final becuase the cruise terminal is right next to the airport in San Diego. We deplaned into a very crowded San Diego airport and made our way to baggage claim. Our flight wasnt on any of the monitors, so we didnt know what carousel our luggage would be on. We just saw it coming down on one and figured, "Hey this must be it".  Smile That wasnt too good on SWA's part. Anyways, part 2 later. Thanks for reading!!

Nice report! What'd you think of the Carnival Spirit? I was on it a week in Alaska after a land tour, and loved it. Next ship on the agenda is Celebrity Xpedition!

I loved it! I was also on the Spirit in the summer of 03 in Alaska. We sailed from Seward to Vancouver for 7 days.
