There was already a queue for check-in when I arrived at LPL so I tagged onto the end and waited for the agents to arrive the advertised two hours before departure. Unfortunately they had other plans so it was a good ten minutes late opening. Once it was opened the queue moved very quickly and the agent I went to was surprisingly cheery for the time of morning! In no time I had my boarding card with sequence number 15, ensuring I would get my desired window seat. LPL was very quiet so I was through security without any delay and after a couple of cups of coffee it was time to board.

Boarding was very quick on this 75% full flight and we were soon on our way out to the runway. After a sprightly take-off the cabin crew began the easyKiosk service and I chose yet another cup of coffee, which at £1.60 I thought was very reasonable. Due to strong tail winds we arrived at AMS after just 45 minutes, though we landed on the Northerly runway so had a further 15 minutes of taxi time before reaching the stand. Disembarkation was from the front door only, through an airbridge, so took a little longer than is customary with EZY. However, once in the terminal I was quickly through passport control and Customs and on my way to the panorama terrace.

I had expected to pay one Euro for entry to the terrace, but for some reason today it was free. Weather was very pleasant so spent a couple of hours viewing before deciding to take a trip into the city centre. The inter-city train took less than 15 minutes into the centre of Amsterdam and cost just six Euros – putting to shame the outrageous prices charged to get into London from LHR, LGW and STN (welcome to rip-off Britain!). After an hour or so strolling through the streets of Amsterdam I returned to Schiphol for a final hour of viewing.

At exactly two hours before departure I was at the deserted easyJet check-in area expecting to receive my low sequence boarding card. Imagine my surprise when I ended up with sequence number 55! Apparently easyJet policies and procedures are only followed when it suits them to do so, as 54 passengers had managed to check-in before the advertised opening time. Oh well, still managed to get a window seat so it wasn’t such a big deal.

After going through security and spending some money in the tax free shopping area I went to gate D8 for my flight home. Things have changed since my last visit to AMS last year, and there is now a second full security check at the gate. Not sure why this is – seems like a waste of effort if you assume that the first security check was done properly. Anyone know why this has been implemented? Anyway, flight was on time and had a relatively light load, so the middle seat was empty on this sector. After a short taxi out and a rapid take-off run we were heading out over the North Sea towards home. This time we had strong head winds, so flying time was just about an hour and due to stormy weather at LPL the approach and landing were both very bumpy. Disembarkation this time was through the usual front and rear steps so much quicker than earlier in the day. After a short wait for my passport to be inspected I was straight through the green channel (no Customs officers to be seen) and very soon in my car and heading for home.

All in all a great day out. Both flights were on time and very comfortable, and a bonus for me is that both aircraft were new ones for my log book. Short report, but hope you enjoyed it.

Nice report - I'm flying the same route on the 29th - was hoping to get an Airbus on the oute, but it looks like LPL is STILL on 733's  Sad
No trees were harmed by this message. However, several million electrons were terribly inconvenienced

Indeed a nice report. easyJet seems to be quite popular among the community, looking at the number of easyJet reports that have been posted lately. Anyway, I enjoyed reading this one (just like the others).
