I woke up at 7 am, ate some breakfast and took quick shower. Got my backpack and laptop computer ready and left my gf’s apartment around 7:30am. I took a subway from Midtown Toronto to Union Station. This took about 25 minutes. I arrive at the Royal York Hotel around 8:00 am to take the free shuttle that is provided by Air Canada to the Toronto Island Airport. The shuttle leaves usually 30 minutes before the departure. I have learned from the driver that the 8:05 flight to YOW was cancelled and that few people from that flight will be on 8:45 am flight. I was the only one on the shuttle. It was snowing in Toronto and blowing wind. After arriving to the Island Airport Terminal, I got all 3 boarding passes for the flights that day. This was my 6th time to fly in and out of YTZ and I really like it, because it is very convenient and close to my home.
There were 11 people together on board of DASH 8-100. There are 37 seats, so the load factor was just under 30%. My seat was in the last row; 9A. The take off was quick and soon after we climbed to our cruising level of 25,000 feet. The flight was uneventful, could not see much because it was snowing and many clouds. However, the FA started to talk to me because of my accent. I told her that I am from Czech Republic and what I do here and where I am going. I used to live in Halifax for past 5 years. She has a good friend from Slovakia who used to work for Canada 3000 in Vancouver. We chatted for good 20 minutes of the flight. She was very much interested in flying and she knew about airliners.net and other aviation website. I asked her if I could take a look into the cockpit during the flight or if I would be allowed to take a jump seat for landing. She asked the pilots, however I was not allowed into the cockpit, but after we landed in YOW, I could go into the cockpit and take a look and talk o the pilots. They told me that today they would be going to BOS from YOW, after back to YOW, later on to YQB, YYY and YWK and all the way back to YUL, and YOW. I was sorry that I have left my camera at home; else I would take nice pictures with the wonderful crew.
During the flight everyone got a carrot muffin, some sesame mix and full can of whatever drink they wanted. I had cranberry juice.
After short layover in YOW it was time for my next flight to YUL. It was very quiet in YOW at that time of the day. While I was waiting I saw couple CRJ leaving, Canjet to YHM, Westjet to YYZ and YYC, United Express and US Airways Express and Canadian North off to Iqualuit.

The weather was great in YOW and no delays forecasted. We started boarding at 11:00am. There were 20 passengers on this flight. Same type of a/c as on my previous flight, load factor was 54%. The pilot made announcement that it would take us about 35 minutes from gate to gate. Again the flight was uneventful. Same level of service as on my earlier flight. Passengers had a choice of cranberry, orange or apple juice and the FA also was offering some sesame mix and shortcake cookies.
I really enjoy flying DASH 8-100, as it is one of my favorite aircrafts. This time I was sitting on the front of the a/c and had the seat next to me for myself. 35 minutes went by very quickly and soon after we started our decent to Montreal airport. We landed on Runway 06-24L. Shortly after touchdown, the a/c made a full stop at the gate 46 and passengers could disembark.
I had about 1 hour and 20 minutes in Montreal before my next flight to YHZ. I made my way to my next gate, 5A. It was also very quiet in YUL. I saw few flights leaving: Delta’s B737-200 to CVG, Jetsgo to YYZ, couple Air Canada’s airplanes to YYZ and CO to EWR.

This flight supposed to departure at 1:20pm, however it was delayed due to the late arrival of incoming a/c from YYZ. Once the boarding started, everything went smooth and fast and we were in the air at no time. I was pretty exhausted because the night before I was supposed to fly and I did not sleep at all. I just wanted to get to my seat and get some rest for the 1 hour and 20 minutes of flight time. I did not count the how many passengers were on board but I would guess that the flight was about 65% full in Y and 80% full in Executive First. I fell asleep immediately and just woke up 20 minutes before landing. The FA offered me a drink so I took some Iced Tea.
We landed in Halifax during snowstorm. There were no aircrafts there except one Canjet (B737-200), 2 Beech 1900 from Air Alliance, 1 ATR 42 from Air St. Pierre and B727 from FEDEX and Purolator. All the passengers disembarked pretty quickly and I was off to downtown Halifax.
I took an airport bus. It cost $20 for roundtrip fare or $12.00 one-way. Taxi costs between $45-50. YHZ is about 35 km from downtown Halifax.
