First UAL Trip...STL-LGA

Fri Mar 11, 2005 6:36 pm

First United Airlines experience. Very pleasant.

STL-ORD 737. Old colors.
full flight. decent. channel 9 was interesting and listened to it the whole way up as much as we could. it was turned on at about 5,000 feet after the runway and turned off before final approach. short hop to chicago. nothing too bad. great view of i-55 northbound. except the last 10 rows of the plane got essentially screwed on drink selections because the flight attendants didn't get around in time. rather "harsh" crew...announcements were similar to "the cart is wide...the aisle is not...so move all of your stuff out of the way people and remain in your seats while we are coming through."
i laughed. was very excited they give out pepsi. i got the whole can.

ORD-LGA 757. Old colors.
last minute upgrade to 757 from a320. great plane. watched joey. blah. video entertainment was nice. something about the ride made some people nauseated....myself included and some flight attendants. got to the gate and about 12 people ran to the potty room. nice plane. great seats. comfy. 77% capacity. no channel 9 due to the in flight entertainment.

LGA-ORD A320. Old colors.
pretzels for breakfast? at least biscotti. come on now. plus the in flight video channel didn't work for audio most of the time. so i stuck with radio disney instead, which wasn't too bad, as much as i can't stand disney half the time. great plane, performance wise. i love the airbus. very nice interior. comfy. liked the 757 a little bit better. 80% capacity

ORD-STL 737 shuttle. Old colors.
best in flight service in a long time on such a short flight. plane not in best of condition but worked well. did the job. channel 9 turned on at the gate and not turned off until arrival. VERY COOL and VERY INTERESTING to listen to while on the ground at O'Hare. listening to the O'Hare ground controllers is....amazing. how they can do that job i will never know. 75% capacity.

all flights on time and ahead of schedule in arrival. baggage made it through safe and sound, check in process very easy at STL and LGA. i'd definitely fly the friendly skies of united once again.

i still love ORD but must say was disappointed that UAL doesnt offer as much food choices as you get in the concourses over at American. it's basically McDonald's and Starbucks. At T3, you at least get Cinnabon (my favorite)Terminal 1 & 3 are -VERY- different atmospheres i must say. it's hard to believe it's all apart of the same airport.

and as always---the kids loved the underground lights!

Actually, there's a lot of food choices in T1 at ORD. There's some food courts in Concourse C/B and a Chili's in Concourse B. Cinnabon is probably the only thing that T1 is lacking.  Sad

Glad you had some okay flights though.

I agree. I did see Chili's in B and Wolf Gang Puck's Gate C32 Omlette Bar & Tap Room and Wolf Gang Puck's Gate C18 Sushi Bar & Oil Change.....but CINNABON IS LIFE!

I wonder why. Whenever I flew UA and Ch. 9 was on (which has been most of the time), it's on for the entire duration of the flight, from gate to gate. Around takeoff and landing it's the best time to listen to it anyway!

Safe flying,

Yeah, I definatley agree that Cinnabon is vital! Nothing else like it. But I guess the chicago-style hot dogs make up for it though. But T1 needs it.

That underground walkway is definatley one of my favorite places in the world. I'd always connect in ORD when I was little and go through it amazed: watching them travel from one end to another changing. Happy memories.. I love T1.

Happy Flying!

SQA--

Agreed. You fly up and I fly up. We spend a day in the tunnel eating hot dogs and cinnabon.

But it has to be before Indiana Beach opens...otherwise, I'll be using my free time to be there eating the tacos.

Awesome! I'm glad you had a good first-experience on UA. You'll find them to be a pretty great airline!  Smile
