FLL-LGA-FLL II: JetBlue Does The Trick! (Part A)

Sat Apr 09, 2005 12:49 pm

Good Evening.
To those of you who read my last thread on FLL-LGA-FLL you will know I now hate AA. In addition to my problems, I have had numerous friends who have had problems with AA. However, I got to fly B6 this time...my 2nd time to LGA on B6 and my 3rd overall roundtrip. Let me say the trip was much better...

B6 382
departs 8:10pm
Arrives 11:05pm
It started this morning when I realized my flight would be delayed due to problems in BOS. It was moved from 8:15 to 8:50pm. We arrived to the airport at 5:45pm noticing our flight was moved to 9:45pm. Since we have to get up early tomorrow, we knew to inquire about an earlier flight. The 6:45pm flight was delayed a little so we went up to the desk and were assigned seats 16B, C, and D. No window, but would you rather have 2 extra hours of sleep or a window?

Security was a breeze (no line at all)and the TSA was nice AND COMPITENT as usual! The lady remembered us from last week!

The plane N507JB (Blue Crew [photoid: 315140])
Concourse B was bustling with the usual JAX and MCO flights full. There were a few people who were waiting for a USA3000 flight ant our B6 flight seemed unusually empty.

We boarded through the rear door and up the stairs. I got a great shot that might be my first public post! Long time from now as that was photo 1/27.
The man in 16A kindly moved to 16D. I feel sorry for him as he almost had 2 open seats, but he actually got a middle seat open, so he was happy. We swiftly boarded this 135/156 (86.%) full plane and when I sat down I remembered why I liked jetBlue.
1) you can fit your WHOLE bag in the bin
2) your bag fits down the aisle
3) the seat pith was 34 vs 31 and the width 18 vs 17.2 (all inches)...which would you prefer? add the leather and the fact that your head rests comfortably and its a no brainer who you choose.

FLYING:
B6 380
SCH Depart 6:45pm
ACT depart 7:35pm
Wheels Up: 7:43pm (27R)
(We were #1 for take off...how often at FLL does that happen now?)

The purser, Angelica (?) was under par, but Aleksis (?), another one of jetBlue's famous male FAs(!) was great. He served my parents full cans (I brought water on board) and encouraged us to have 2 snacks (I had my usual biscotti and Terra Blues) The DirecTV system was messed up a little on the flight, channels 14-25 were not working. Our awesome FA offered us compensation which I declined (due to the fact that they had already waived our change fees for the change to 380 from 382!) and it was only $5 anyway.

Still, the basketball game, Big Daddy, the free movies (due to the delay?) and my newspaper that I am critiquing for school kept me busy. Great view on this clear night too.

You know, maybe I was just craky last week but this time was much better. The plane was clean, I got on an earlier flight, the service good, the IFE was outstanding....

That being said...RATINGS TIME:
FLL AIRPORT: 8 (great airport to park in and it was a breeze to get through...plus wifi as well!
LGA AIRPORT: 8 (nicer at night!)
B6 Ground Crew: 7 at FLL (not great, but boarded swiftly...nothing to write home about...the agents were ok, but the ops crew was swift as ever.)
B6: Ground Crew at LGA: 7 (no complaints)
Pilots: 9 (10, but we started to dive so I had to dock a point!)
CREW: 9 (great crew!)
Seats: 10 (wow!)
IFE: 8 (WOW! -2 for no 14-25)
OVERALL 57/80 (7.12)

Didn't you fly AA last week? B6 and AA are in different terminals, so how did you see the same TSA lady?

That's what I said, but I swear the ladies remembered us. So, I'm guessing that they are not the TSA (they are the ones who check your ticket) and that they had been moved or move to different terminals daily.

Ticket checkers and greeter services are sometimes volunteers for the Port Authority. These volunteers rotate throughout the terminals. That's my guess.

This was actually at FLL, but it is the same premise. It is also interesting to note that (as you will tell in part b...being published as we speak...) the TSA has been great to me and they are still some of the nicest people I have met. And they do their jobs. All of the security staff for this entire trip get a 10 for being safe and courtious.

Nice report, enjoyed it.

It's still good to hear great reports about B6 flights, some 5 years later I still cannot recall a bad trip report.

As to FLL,superb airport. I love the viewing area and the free wifi within the terminals, just wish they had more power outlets for when the laptopa batteries are running low from too much free internet Smile
