Ride The Animal! TUL-DEN-SFO-DEN-TUL Pt. 2 (Pics)

Mon Jun 13, 2005 3:01 am

Well, my week of fun and spotting has come to an end and its time to return to Oklahoma, wheeeee! (sarcasm)  Smile I thought I was going to be in trouble on the flight out of San Francisco as the incoming flight was late. As it was, I had an hour to connect in Denver for my flight to Tulsa. The flight left out of San Francisco 45 minutes late! I thought it was going to be tight. The captain did well to make up time in the air and we only ended up being 10 minutes late into Denver. Nice! I still hoofed it from opposite ends of the terminal to make it to the Jet Express gates just as pre-boarding was starting! The incoming flight into Denver was quite bumpy as we passed over the Front Range into the plains. An announcement was made for the FA's to take their seats early as winds were gusting from the south at 35. It was bumpy but not overly bad. The sound and push from the wind was worse than the actual turbulence I think. You could really hear the wind and feel it pushing the tail of the aircraft as we headed east to make the approach into 16R. Sorry I don't have any landing shots as I put my camera up early because I knew I would be in somewhat of a hurry to make my next flight to Tulsa. Enough from me, onto the shots!

June 8
Frontier Flt. 106
San Francisco-Denver
Depart: 2:40p PST 45 minutes late.
Arrive: 6:10 MST 10 minutes late.
Cruise: FL370
Equipment: Airbus A319
N919FR "Ocelot"

Wide view of the clouded California Sierras.

A closer look...

Mono Lake in the distance.

Over Nevada in 8F with my poison.  Wink

Criss-cross contrails over Colorado.

The Front Range, Longs Peak can be seen just above the front of the engine pylon.

Leaving the mountains and really starting to feel and hear the gusting winds.

Slowing down in bumpy air with area lakes reflecting brightly.

June 8
Jet Express Flt. 4203
Denver-Tulsa
Depart: 7:10p MST Ontime
Arrive: 9:45p CST 10 minutes early.
Cruise: FL370
Equipment: CRJ-700
N616QX "Mountain Goat"

Company CRJ next to us with turbulent skies over Denver.

Things getting busy on the Frontier side with the cool bridge over the taxiway. I wish I would have had time to go up there!

The busy United Concourse B.

Concourse C with a Delta 763.

Turning onto 17L. Lightning was seen to the north just before I took this shot.

Turning to the east after departing 17L.

Looked like the weather was getting worse as we left.

Nice lighting over the plain....plains.  Smile

Leaving the clouds behind for a short while.

Approaching a line of storms over Kansas.

A closer look.

After we passed through the tops and some mild turbulence, we were treated to an awesome view of the line of storms to the north with almost constant lightning. Unfortunately, it was too dark for pictures.

I hope you enjoyed my report on my first but not last flight with Frontier! Look for shots in a while from SFO, LAX, SJC, and MRY that I took. It will take a LONG time to get them all up as I have close to 150 of them! :

ask not what your pilot can do for you, ask what you can do for your pilot

more trip report coolness!

but one important question - does F9 actually serve Mountain Dew on the plane, or did you take that on yourself? That'd be just one more reason for me to fly them - there's days I just need the caffeine!  Big grin
