FLL-JFK-TXL

Wed Jul 13, 2005 7:05 pm

I came to Berlin to intern at the Venezuelan Embassy here on Schillstr. So here it goes! I am sorry but I forgot the cable for my camera I will upload the photos tomorrow.

FLL-JFK DL2030 1:40 pm 07 July 2005

I arrived at the airport too early for this flight, like at about 10 am. Little to my surprise after sleeping from 12 until 2 in the terminal, the flight was delayed. We ended up leaving at 2:20.

I was so surprised at the service on Song. I enjoyed the Dish Network television and the wide array of music. The Boston-based flight attendants where nice and and good looking.

We arrived in JFK and where parked on the Tarmac for 25 mins because our gate wasnt available.

When we finally arrived at the terminal it took me some time to realize that I would have to run across the entire terminal to get to my other gate. I was so appalled with how nasty the terminal was, disgusting.

Once I ran to gate 14 I found that this flight was also delayed, which gave me some hope that my bags would get on the plane with me. I was so pleased with how they treated me in the waiting area. I requested an emergency row seat change and the lady treated me courteously and did not fret at me when her boarding pass printer broke and she had to walk to another station a gate away to print it for me.

The flight was full of Germans. I think I was the only Latino. Hehe. The business-class section of the 767-300 was full and economy left much to be expected.

The dinner was the worse I had ever had on a plane, ugh nasty. I was dissapointed that this plane had an incredibly old livery with no PTV. I slept most of the way and thanks to my IPOD I was not forced to listen to their okay music selection. They had run out of inflight magazines and the movie was, well, I didnt watch it.

Sometime after breakfast (which also sucked, United´s service to Germany is certainly better than Delta´s) I asked some flight attendants about the flight. Most of the people where German and spoke German, which is good; and they all told me they thought the flight was doing well but that they had one year of subsidy from the Berlin government and they hoped that Delta would consider flights to Berlin profitable enough to continue them after that date.

After I arrived I was surprised by how small the terminal was. The immigrations right there at the exit of the gate is a great idea, quick way to catch illegal immigrants. 45 minutes after my arrival I found out my bags where still in New York. The baggage handling company people where nice and put up with a lot of my crap. It ends up I got my bags the next day at 10 pm.

I think this is the first report from JFK-TXL. I hope I can get some constructive criticism.

I am sorry, I am unable to upload the pictures. I guess this is one failed report! I will put up links to a yahoo fotos account later.

Hi,

No, a trip report is not failed just because it lacks photos. Text is fine; after all, it's called a report and not picture story.  Smile

Good to know the DL flight to TXL is doing ok... I'm just curious as to whether it is now being overserved with CO also going there now.
MIA, Nice report. Have fun in Germany!
By the way, that is a funny signature you got there... is there any truth to that saying?  Silly

I'd be interested to see how this JFK-TXL does. Berlin's bending over backwards to get people to visit the city- Germans and foreigners alike. JFK is probably DL's best bet when trying to fill seats (as opposed to ATL).
