One of the few trip reports that I do. I'm doing a 2 parter of my 6-Day MNL
Northwest Airlines NW25
Today we are flying NW25 from DTW
, departing at 2:35pm local. It is Tuesday and briefing begins promptly at 1:30 mins prior to departure. The bidsheet is passed around and there 12 of us working to 747-400 service for the first leg of flt25. The purser begins the brief and is joined by one of the captains. We have 2 pilot crews flying today with us. Tom is the 2nd crew, so he is the one giving us the brief. Tells us that we're taking ship 6301, the old lady of the fleet. The 1st is in flt ops getting the weather reports and routings from dispatch. I am 2nd from the bottom on the crew and bid for the 3A position. I will be working Team 1L with is C-zone left aisle for the inflight service. An Inflight Manager is also assigned to assist us in what we may need on the ground during the boarding process. We are out of gate A54 today, light load in the back with 228, WBC is full. I'm the first of the crew on the aircraft. I'm chatting with a girlfriend of mine on the cell while I stow my bag preflight my j/s. Boarding commences at 1:40pm. People come on board families, businessmen and so forth. I'm a door 2L for boarding. During this time i'm basically tied by a passenger wanting me to quiet her baby down who is making a real fuss. She asks for water, OJ and everything else under sun. I ask if she might want some milk in the baby's bottle. So I fill the bottle with milk, heat it up for her and send her on her way. We close the doors at at 2:20pm and push back about 5 minutes later. The safety demo starts as we're rolling along the taxiway. We then pull onto the, the captain tells us to be seated for departure, and at 2:45pm were rolling down the runway.

So here's us on the climbout.
20 minutes into the flight we're starting the dinner service. It's the classic beef or chicken selections for our guests today. The dinner service goes rather quickly becuase of the fact that I have about half of what I would normally have in my section. I go about 3-4 rows into D-zone to help he lady on Team 2 on my side. Coffee and Tea 2nds are doen by all FA
's regardless of there section and we all help eachother to get ready to pick-up the trays. With the pick-up completed,i'm free to retrieve my duty-free cart to commence the inflight duty-free sales. We inventory the cart with curious onlookers lurking in the rear WBC galley by the UD staircase. Initial duty-frees are done and then it's off to the midgalley to eat before breakperiods start. I brought some hummous along with me from a local Lebanese Deli near DTW
to go along with my crew meal. Then I'm off to the bunk area to sleep. We have 3hr and 30min breaks, i'm on first break which is good because I commuted in from SEA
on the redeye. So I was ready to sleep. I wake form my by the sound of one the ladies snoring in the bunk next to me. It's almost the end of our breaks anyway, so I change back into my uniform, clean myself up a bit and go back on the floor. I go and sit at 2R
and take this picture.

Then go back to door 5L
and take this one.

The mid movie snack has already been given out. and pretty much the working crew during 2nd break is pretty much doing water walks until we start setting up for the 2nd service. We finish the prearrival service with just under an hour to go. and we start feeling some light chop as we decend through 21,000 ft. We start collecting headsets about 20 minutes before arrival. We then get the double chime for landing, and the start cabin checks. We arrive in NRT
just before 4:30 local. We taxi into the gate and full stop. Total flight time was 12:10 for pushback in DTW
to block-in here in NRT

N661US rests after her long trip over. She goes onto PVG
and returns to NRT
the next day. (She RON's in NRT
Northwest Airlines NW19
Today, my self and the purser that I came over with are working the leg from NRT
. We are joined by 8 MNL
's and one BKK
. We brief and bid. I'm 4 from the bottom this leg, so a little bit more seniority. The purser makes me feel like i'm 2 feet tall by explaining to these ladies and one gentleman that I have absolutely no idea what i'm doing, because I don't fly these that often. I do have some idea how it works over here, but I just bite my tongue. Today we have ship 6313, which had just flown in from JFK

I'm working the 2A position today which is left-side aisle in WBC in B-zone. It's a quick 3hr, 30 minute flight down to the PI
today. Scheduled departure time is 7pm local.

NW7 pulls in from SEA
. We beginour normal predeparture duties, drinks, hang coats, pass out newspapers. Once everyone is seated, the doors close and we're on our way.

We're put on a sequencing hold due to congestion at NRT
tonight. Were a full load as usual. We taxi down to the runway. We're airborne at 7:40pm. As we make our way south, down the pacific, we begin our service. Tonights service is a simple dinner. We have chicken curry or beef pot-stickers for our choices, or they may dine on the simple champaigne supper, which is some scallops and smoked beef. I prefer the CS
over my crew meal. I just want the big salad with the shiso herb dressing. Delicious. I deferred on the duty-free because I could. We must excercise our seniority when we can. Chatting in th galley really blows off alot of time. I was trying to upload these pics on my laptop, when the captain announced we were preparing for landing. Looking out the window there was nothing but blackness until we approached the city from the NE. We swung around the outskirts as we vectored for our approach. We then turned onto final, the gear and flaps are fully extended. The vibration and noise are deafening almost. We touch down in MNL
at 10:15 local. We then taxi for a few minutes and pull inot the gate next to NW
71 from DTW
19 is supposed to beat the Nagoya flight, but it never happens, because of the traffic at NRT
and the scarce traffic at NGO
. We block-in at 10:22 local minus the 1hr time difference from NRT
. So that's the trip report for this leg. I'll type the next part when I return to DTW
on the 24th. Sorry for the poor picture quality. What can I say, shitty camera.
