I got to the airport at 4:00AM (I know, too early). Check-in was uneventful, and it was apparent that this would be a full flight. The Boise airport has a beautiful ticketing lobby (newly renovated), though the gates are another story). After checking in, I proceeded through security, again uneventful, and then headed to gate B10. Shortly after arriving at the gate, I hear that there is a gate change, and that UA1150 will now be boarding down the concourse at B21. The gate areas at BOI are nothing short of disgusting. The concourse is in the middle of being renovated, so carpet is missing in many areas, many areas are blocked off, and there are temporary directional signs everywhere. Boarding commenced about 5 minutes late at 7:15, and I got on with Seating Area 4. The jetway cover was not pulled over the plane door, so there was literally a "light at the end of the tunnel." After taking my window seat over the wing, the captain came on and said that we would be departing a few minutes late due to a battery light on in the cockpit. Maintenance people shortly came on, and I saw the thrust reversers constantly being tested (w/the engine off). Do batteries have anything to do with reversers? We pushed 20 minutes late for a short taxi to runway 28L. 28R/10L are closed at the moment. After a smooth takeoff, we climbed over the city. What a beautiful departure. By the way, Channel 9 was on for this flight and I was greatful! The flight attendants shortly came around with the standard biscoff crackers and drink service. This was a great flight crew -- after the beverage service they didn't hide; but instead kept coming around with pitchers of water, OJ, and starbucks coffee. I like this nice touch that UA has for its Economy pax. I listened to channel nine while reading Time, Flying, and Hemispheres. After a few hours in flight, we started our descent into ORD via the Janesville 4 arrival. The C90 TRACON vectored us in for a nice landing on 27R. For those of you who know ORD, 27R is a very short taxi from the UA gates. We pulled in about 15 minutes late at gate B3. I then went immediately to gate B14 for my next flight....

After arriving at B14, a 5 minute walk down the B concourse, I arrived to find none other than N411UA operating this flight. I was so excited -- my first new colors! After a 5 minute delay due to "Late Arriving Aircraft" (I love EasyInfo), it was time to board. After boarding in group 4 again, I was disappointed to see that the plane with the new colors still has the old interior in it. Oh well -- I guess you can't get everything. The FO got on the PA frequently and was very perky -- I think I've been a Ted flight with him before. The takeoff was just in the nick of time -- thunderstorms were on the horizon! The climbout over Lake Michigan was a bit bumpy and over channel 9 I could hear our flight constantly requesting deviations. Soon things cleared up and I could see Detroit from FL370. Once again, we had a beverage service, this time with some snack mix. To be honest, there was no difference between a Business1 flight and a regular UA mainline flight. We abruptly descended and came in over New Jersey. We were told "After the statue, follow the hudson river northbound." We did, and we were also sharply vectored soon after that. I saw very familiar places from the air. We came in for an ILS approach into Runway 22. The landing was pretty bad -- the pilot touched down about halfway down the 7,000 foot runway - so he had to apply strong reverse thrust and breaks. I deplaned into the C concourse at LGA -- probably in worse condition than BOI (though with no renovation as an excuse). Headed to baggage claim, and headed home.
Over all, two great flights on United!
