Fly for the first time in first class and this is my first post on A.net after being a long time reader but not a poster

So I fly to Florida quite often since I have family down there. In Fort Myers to be exact

My trip began on August 22 from DTW. I was a bit nervous how things would go with the strike going on with NW but for the most part things went okay. First of all the flight was delayed about 2 hours first due to something wrong with t he anti-icing, since you know the anti-icing is used quite a bit in August. After the replacement mx got that fixed the pilot came out to the gate area and told us that two of the four toilets were not in service and that the aircraft, N517US, was all "we have to dance with" so that was that we were gonna fly with two operating toilets for nearly 200 people...

Well just after leveling off at a flight alt. of 34,000ft one of the two operating toilets decided to quit working so that left only one operating toilet in the aft of the cabin...very Inconvenient for the FC pax like my self.

Even though the aircraft was to be desired the crew was the best! The pilot was even better. The friendliest ever talked on the PA a lot quite clear too and came back to talk to upset pax about the toilet situation and the safety of the ac due to the mx strike...some Pax were concerned that the AC wasn't safe. The meal was even good...but International meals are always better!

The flight back on ac N546US was better...it was on time very friendly crew and for the most part a smooth flight a little bumpy over W.Virgina. NW is a great airline and all the staff from pilots to gate agents were friendly and always there with a smile on their face...NW will always have my business and I will continue to fly FC...and fly in style

Oh sorry I forgot to say that....757-200 series one delivered in 1985 and the other in 1996...can Definitely tell the difference in their age

I just flew DTW-FLL-DTW this past weekend (see my Trip Report- "CLT-DTW-FLL; FLL-DTW-CLT on NW). I also flew 757's each way. I really love NW's flight crews. I hope rumored concessions being asked by NW management don't come to pass...

Yeah NW flight crew are really good...but I talked to quite a few and they will leave the airline if their pay cuts exceed 10% or more...and moral is not real good either...but that is obvious when your management is the devil

If this/ese was/were your 1st class flight/s, surely you must have been served a meal? Your report is well written; all you need is your impression of the inflight service. As well as you write, your observations of cabin, crew, offerings, and comfort would be most appreciated by those of us who appreciate your style. As well as all of this thread's prior posters who exhibit a flair for writing.



PS. - The Captain came into the gate area to tell the pax of lav problems? I've never heard that one before!

Yes sorry for not adding the information about the meals....
on my first flight in first class August 22nd on flight 1112 we were served what was supposed to be breakfast since the flight was supposed to depart at 0932 but it was like 1100 or something when we did so the breakfast became brunch. It consisted of scrambled eggs, hash browns, sausage (which I didn't eat) a nice generous serving of delicious fruit and a cup of yogurt...all was pretty good. The cabin was a bit old...the ac was delivered in 1985 so its been around for a bit, but still clean. The crew was very friendly and always smiling. The only in flight entertainment if you can call it was the sky mall magazine and the NW magazine...wouldnt mind some PVTs like on NW's Airbus's or even music to listen to. but c'est la vie

The return flight in first class on August 29th flight 1111 I was served a lunch which consisted of roasted chicken, pasta salad, another generous bowl of fruit, a roll, and some chocolates...all of which were tasty. The crew was still friendly but not as friendly as the previous flight. The aircraft was a lot newer too being delivered in 1996. No major problems noted either.

Both times lots leg room and nice big comfy seats..wish they were leather though...

and yes the pilot did come out to the gate area to tell the passengers about the lav situation...he did it twice...very Admirable of him
