Here is my trip report from my business trip with Delta last month...enjoy  SmileBTW, anyone in Memphis should visit AutoZone Park, home of the St. Louis Cardinals AAA Memphis Redbirds - beautiful stadium!

Tuesday, September 27th
Delta 1525
McDonnell Douglas MD-88
Scheduled departure time: 422pm
Actual departure time: 423pm (wheels up at 4:36)
Scheduled arrival time: 654pm
Actual arrival time: 645pm
Departure gate: Gate A11
Arrival gate: B6
Seat: 28E

Pretty full flight down to thing I notice having flown across the country on NW the day before is that the MD-88 is much quieter on idle compared to a 757 or 320....seems to either be that or DL passengers make less noise while getting onboard. Either way, in quiet nomadic manner we got out on time and were on our way to ATL promptly. After we leveled off FA's came around and Sun Chips or Animal Crackers were the popular snack, just as the article in the in-flight Sky magazine noted. Teh captain was nice to point out landmarks like the Appy mountains and such, always a nice touch. We took the typical pattern down to ATL, overfly toward the west and turn back toward the airport heading east. It got a little bumpy on the way down but not too bad...quite a bit of cloud cover around the airport. Plane turned around and headed for LGA after we deplaned. This MD-88 was still in the old interior

Delta 601
McDonnell Douglas MD-88
Scheduled departure time: 809pm
Actual departure time: 811pm (wheels up at 8:23)
Scheduled arrival time: 827pm
Actual arrival time: 825pm
Departure gate: Gate B31
Arrival gate: A27
Seat: 28E

This MD-88 was still in the old interior also. But, this flight was the opposite of most flights you get on, it was close to full if not full up in first, but coach might have had 30 passengers at most. My three co-workers and I spread out over 2 rows so in essence I sat in 28D and had the window seat free. I put my second carry on in the overhead and had more than enough space to stretch my was great. Anyhow this flight encountered moderate to severe turbulence departing ATL up until we got up over 10,000 feet - the MD-88 was rocking back and forth and pitching ....I even started to get a little of the white knuckle syndrome for a bit. However, after we leveled off a bit and rose above 10k feet it was fine until some light chop heading into MEM airspace. The FA's served peanuts and drinks (no choice like longer DL flights) and before you knew it we were in the city that once was home to Elvis. Both very pleasant flights by Delta.

Friday,September 30th
Delta 244
McDonnell Douglas MD-88
Scheduled departure time: 423pm
Actual departure time: 454pm (wheels up at 5:21)
Scheduled arrival time: 643pm
Actual arrival time: 7:27pm
Departure gate: Gate A27
Arrival gate: B8
Seat: 28E

This flight got delayed due to a ground hold (what else) coming out of ATL but what did we care since we were scheduled to have over a 2 hour layover in ATL. Same service as flight to MEM- drinks and peanuts, but during the lengthy delay they passed out dasani water bottles to those pax who didn't wish to deplane back in MEM and wait in the cramped gate areas of MEM's circa 1970' terminal. Again, nice touch to DL. Not a bad ride on this one besides light chop and overcast skies on arrival into ATL. As usual we deplane into a bustling mega-hub, and our flight 244 goes onto BOS. This particular MD-88 had the new interior. While I like the extra lights on the side, im not so sure I dont like the old seats better than the new leather ones.

Delta 1074
Boeing 757-200
Scheduled departure time: 851pm
Actual departure time: 910pm (wheels up at 9:23)
Scheduled arrival time: 1109pm
Actual arrival time: 1123pm
Departure gate: Gate E5
Arrival gate: A9
Seat: 40F

First time on a Delta 757 in the new colors and it looks very nice, but again, the seats aren't that comfy, feels too hard after about one hour. I figured our aircraft must have come in from an international destination because it was parked at concourse 'E' when i would have thought it'd be at 'A' or 'T'-- but i'm not compaining, I like the 'E' terminal... but here is what I did wonder-- is it because of Ch 11 that DL will hold the plane 20 minutes for peopleto make the connection instead of letting the plane push. I am reminded of mid March when I was supposed to be on the 9pm departure out of ATL for BDL, and my inbound from FLL got the ground stop treatment and I got to my 'T' concourse gate just as the flight was pushing back. There were a handful of us in that situation. We each got a free hotel night and travel at whatever we wanted for the next morning... now, why would they hold the plane this time and not when I was running to catch it???

Anyhow, off my hobbyhorse- the Salt Lake City based crew on this flight was great- they didn't have the snack basket but made up for it with second hselections of both peanuts and granold bars which they did have. One the TV secrrens we had Delta Horizons. We came out over the water around Richmond, VA before hugging the Jersey shore, over Long Island, HVN, and on up into BDL...The lead FA for the SLC crew made the most professional welcome to hartford announcement as well...something like "we hope to see you again, here...on... Delta Airlines." Great flights by DL despite slight tardiness, I would certainly give them thumbs up for effort and like NW, I hope DL emerges Ch. 11 a better run and stronger company.

Nice report. I haven't flown Delta in about 3 years but had great experiences as well last time I flew them. However, I have taken Song a couple times these past two years and have loved every minute of it. I hope they get out of Ch 11 soon!
