Ok here is my report from my trip from JFK

Well I left my house early to allow for extra time because of traffic in NYC. Surprisingly I hit none and made it to the long term parking lot at JFK
3 hours early. I boarded my air train and got to the terminal with lots of time to spare.
I checked in myself with a self service check in machine, and then bought my bag to the counter where the agent said hello and took it. First impression from my first interaction with the CSA was good. I proceeded to security and got right through into the terminal. I really don’t like the way the terminal is set up. It feels crowded and there are not many seats for a large portion of the gates. I can’t really blame B6
for that. Aside from that I noticed Terminal 5 which is the old abandoned TWA terminal and it looks horrible from the outside but I’m sure that will get fixed in time.
I made my way down by gate 2 to do some spotting. I looked on the arrival screen, and to my surprise all but two Jet Blue flights were running with anywhere from 15 minute up to one hour delays. It was at this time I realized that my flight would in way be able to depart on time unless a 5 minute turn was done. I don’t know what the delay was for. The weather in NY and up and down the coast was gorgeous. There was also nothing significant out west. Oh well, I noticed on the screen when the 2 BOS
flights would be coming in so I could get some 190 pictures and so I did. : )
I actually ended up seeing all 3 190’s this entire trip but only managed to get pictures of the striped tail one, and the dots tail one.
After some spotting I decided to get some Chinese food. I ate it pretty fast, and went back to spotting. Some interesting planes I saw land on 31R were AF
777-300, Air Jamaica 340, Cathay 340-600, and the Song pink plane for breast cancer awareness.
Well around 3:00PM I went to my gate to see my inbound flight arrive so I could evaluate how B6
turns their planes. Well the inbound flight from Tampa arrived at the gate exactly 3:10PM my scheduled departure time. People deplaned and to my surprise there was about a 10 minute gap after the last passenger got off until we boarded. I was very disappointed with this. I was anticipating Jet Blue to turn this plane ASAP which was not the case. I really don’t mind delays so much if I see the crew is either apologetic, if it’s something beyond their control(which it usually is), or if the crew is working as efficiently as possible to get the plane out. I guess this plane was really dirty or something else was up since the boarding was delayed . With WN
and Air Tran I usually will end up boarding about a minute after the last person is off. Most will argue that the plane is probably dirty but that is never the case(at least for me). Boarding finally came and I went when my row was called. The jet way was jam packed with people, but it eventually broke and I got on board my first Jet Blue plane as well as my first A320. Two very friendly flight attendants greeted me. I took my seat in 19F and found it to be very comfortable. I sat back and waited for pushback. The F/A’s were good with trying to keep the aisle clear to board the plane quicker but it didn’t help. At about 3:50 the captain came out and did an announcement welcoming us which was a nice touch that WN
also did on my trip to PIT
the week before. Pushback finally occurred 45 minutes late at 3:55.
As we pushed back I saw the Stripes 190 taxing away to the runway. The 190 really is a sleek sexy aircraft IMO. After starting the number one engine we were on our way to 31R. As we stopped it seemed there were about 5 planes ahead of us. A Com Air CRJ, 2 sister aircraft, and 2 Song 757’s. The number two engine started, and we ended up waiting for about 25 minutes or so at the runway. There was clearly a lot of traffic because about 3 planes would land and then finally one would be able to take off. I don’t understand why ATC didn’t have any planes taking off on 31R. It also seemed that this runway wasn’t be used to its full availability. Who knows….
We finally got our turn and our A320 slowly accelerated, then finally got a nice big push of thrust. There was tons of crosswind while accelerating. It was very obvious the pilot was making adjustments, more so then I have ever noticed on any flight. I would think with the crosswind we would have just taken off of one of the 22’s or 4’s. Anyway, we rotated fairly quickly and turned left twice and basically circled the airport before taking a heading directly toward Rochester. I just scanned the channels and ended up watching Animal Planet.
F/A’s first came around offering Coke, Diet Coke, Water, and Sprite. I took a coke and was extremely happy to get a whole can : D Shortly thereafter they came around offering a variety of snack options. They included animal crackers, terra blue chips, almonds, cookies and a few others that I forget. I got the blue chips and enjoyed them greatly! These chips were so delicious, and its great how they are blue to fit along with the airline.
Our cruising altitude ended up being 22,000 feet just for a short time. Nothing unusual happened on descent, just a few normal bumps. We landed on runway 22 and arrived at the gate 57 minutes late.

I was disappointed with the delay because all my friends and people that I Know who take B6
brag how they are always on time. I was more disappointed though with how slowly my plane was turned, but not to the point where I wouldn’t fly Jet Blue again. The employees were descent but could have been better. I found WN
flight attendants to be much more friendlier though on my previous trip. I do think B6
has a better product to offer their customers. The TV
’s are great and its nice to get a whole can of coke with great snack options. I have now flown Song, WN
, and B6
and truly enjoy them all. They all have different perks and I would still keep flying any one of them. The thing that will sell me in the end ultimately would be price.
One final thing I think Jet Blue should do is allow for longer turn around times. Many flights are only usually allowed a 35 minute turn and to me this seems impossible with their constant high loads on a 320. Again it took them a whole 45 to turn mine. Unless I just had an inefficient crew, I don’t see how they can do 35 minute turns especially at JFK
