BDL-DTW-BDL 12/8-12/11

Tue Dec 20, 2005 2:24 pm

Had to go home for a family's the quick trip report...

Thurs 12/8/05
Northwest Airlines 323
Hartford (BDL) to Detroit Metro (DTW)
Airbus A319
Scheduled departure time: 4:12pm
Pushback time: 4:35pm Wheels up: 5:03pm
Scheduled arrival time: 6:09pm
Touch down: 6:57pm Gate arrival: 7:06pm
Seat: 17F
Departure Gate: A5 (BDL) Arrival Gate: A71 (DTW)

I arrived at the airport around 3:15 and the aircraft had already arrived in from DTW so I called up my mom at around 3:45 to let her know I'd be on-time, and sure enough as soon as I hang up the phone the customer service supervisor for NW who is helping at the gate announces a (unspecified) mechanical problem. We were told it'd be 10-15 minutes and then they'd know how long it would take to get the problem rectified. So that time elapses and they determine that they only need another 10 or so minutes to fix the problem so right before the scheduled departure time we're beginning to board the 100% full flight and people boarded quickly but the crew had to gate check a lot of bags as people weren't getting them efficiently placed into the overhead bins. Anyhow, eventually we get underway but were given a wheels up time of 5:05 from Detroit so we spent 10 minutes or so in a penalty box before we lifted off towards Springfield, Mass. Due to the weather system that was in the midwest we flew north towards New Hampshire before making a left turn about 100 miles east of Syracuse, NY and up over Buffalo/Niagara and Kitchner/Waterloo, Ontario down into Detroit. What is normally about a 1 hour, 30 minute flight was 1 hour, 54 minutes this evening. Got pretty choppy up at cruise of 36,000 feet...Standard NW service, drinks, whole can, but no pretzels. Flight crew was pretty forgettable, one of the F/A's was relatively rude, but that is par for the course sometimes....I think they were LAX based. Flight continued onto SNA. The snow had begun to fall in Detroit as we arrived and it was gettin nasty.

Sunday 12/11/05
Northwest Airlines 1220
Detroit Metro (DTW) to Hartford (BDL)
Airbus A320
Scheduled departure time: 9:21pm
Pushback time: 9:32pm Wheels up: 9:49pm
Scheduled arrival time: 10:57pm
Touch down: 11:02pm Gate arrival: 11:06pm
Seat: 5A (bulkhead)
Departure Gate: A65 (DTW) Arrival Gate: A5 (BDL)

Flight arrives in from DEN and the short delay was due to waiting for connecting passengers. Nicer flight crew on this flight, which was a very smooth flight back to chilly Hartford. We flew ove the lakes through to upstate NY and over Springfield, Mass, landing at Bradley International from the north just a shade late. DTW based crew. I don't know what else to say about the 1 hour, 13 minute flight....i've been not only on this route before but on the same 9 PM flight before and its usually full (as tonight's was), and always nondescript. You know what they say, no news, is good news....  Smile

Hope you enjoyed the report, Happy Holidays.
