AA DFW-ORD-LHR Lots Of Pics

Mon Jan 30, 2006 6:01 pm

Hi all. This is my first trip report that includes pics. I'm still a bit behind the technology curve, so I've just figured out how to add pics to the forum. Some of the pictures are a bit blurry too, so bear with me.

I was on my way to fly on AA's inaugural last spring DUB-ORD, but this is the trip over. I was in coach to ORD and first class on a 777 to LHR. The 6:00am DFW-ORD and AA 90 the 9:00am ORD-LHR that arrives LHR at 10:35pm. Let me apologize right away that I didn't take any pictures of my first class seat on AA90. I just felt wierd doing it in front of everyone!

AA 2320 Apr 30, 2005. 6:00am DFW-ORD Seat 26A N969TW On time.
AA 90 Apr 30, 2005. 9:10am ORD-LHR Seat 3J N752AN On time.

Look how early it is. I actually stopped the car to make this shot. 4am!

It's so early that the ticket counter isn't even open yet!

I can't even buy coffee yet!

Great, they gave me a seat assignment for the ORD flight! (I'm flying on standby, as airline staff).

I'm not sure which airport this is. I think we were in the Missouri area.

Check out this crosswind landing! Ok, maybe we were landing on a different runway.

Parking on the H side, next to the new Eagle gates in H. Or they were new to Eagle at the time--former AA gates.

A much better shot of it...at gate K16. Across from us at K12 was the flight to HNL. The LHR flight time was posted at 7.55hrs. The HNL was posted as 9.15hrs.

Yes, dreams do come true. Confirmed in a first class window seat!

Cleared for takeoff!

St John's and Gander are behind us as we leave the icy coast of Newfoundland and enter the North Atlantic.

I just love the moving map display.

I forgot to take a picture of the main meal. This is the pre-landing dinner. The flight attendants were nice enough to remind me that all facilities at Heathrow will be closed upon arrival, so they asked if they should wake me for dinner in case I was asleep. I thought that was a nice touch.

One more shot of the moving map display.

It was so dark at heathrow and my camera was so small that I didn't take a landing shot, since it was at night on 9R. Landing on 9R disappointed me, because I wanted to see the London City Centre as we approached.

I do welcome constructive feedback as this is my first photo-trip report.
See, I knew American Eagle was first class all along!

Nice photos there, I really like 777 engine over the Atlantic. The only thing I would change is you could add some more detail about the service onboard, and at the airport.

Nice report. The 777 is the greatest airplane in the world. I love flying on it in first class.
What do you do for AA? I retired from AA in March 2005. I worked at the SRO in International Resolution. I am now a missionary in Japan, and I fly the 777 all the time between the US and Japan..in first class of course!
Have you kissed a 777 today?

I was in reservations at the DTRO when it first opened. Just domestic sales and when they threw BMIS, BMAS? anyway lost baggage, into our mix, I moved to operations for Eagle.

I'm not sure which airport this is. I think we were in the Missouri area.

That airport you saw was actually ORD prior to landing. And seeing as how I've flown there so many times, I see that your plane landed on 9R/27L. You crossed 4R/22L just before landing as shown in the other picture.

Not necessarily, the runway in the photo is 22L/4R...he could have landed on 27R/9L...overflow from 27L is used on 27R (which is a visual landing most of the time)

God, we are nerds.

Hey! You're right. My bad. It's been a long time since this trip and I got two pictures confused making this report. Yes, that's ORD as we were flying past it coming from the south to the northeast.

Yes I enjoy the maps too, especially during severe turbulence. On Aer Lingus they had no maps on my last trip. I made pictures on my digital camera but I have no idea how to post them. I will have to try to figure it out.
Thanks for the nice pictures.
