SLC / IAH - CO Ex ERJ-145
IAH / ATL - CO 737-300
ATL / IAH - CO 737-300
IAH / SLC - Delta 737-300
(sorry I didn't get any regs)
This would be my first flight in nearly 12 years, I was very excited and eager to get up at 2:15 to catch my 5:41 flight. We checked in with CO and then security was a breeze.
After an hour of early-morning CNN, we were allowed to board the ERJ-145. I had a window seat (6A) and was absoultely thrilled about the winglets. After a small seating-mix up involving me, two very intimidating Samoans, and a very nice college student, we taxied out to Runway 16L, held short for a FedEx A300/310 (couldn't tell), and then we were off to Houston!
We had just over an hour layover in Houston before the flight to ATL, during which all the girls in my little group took a very lengthy bathroom break and I headed to Wendy's. I wanted to know if I had enough for a Spicy Chicken, so I asked if there was Sales Tax on food in Texas. The cashier didn't know what sales tax was, "I just type it in the thing here, and it tells how much you pay"...eventually I ended up with my spicy chicken
After holding for about 15 minutes (during which I saw my first 777 up close), we blasted into the overcast skies for ATL.
Our snack was a drink + 2 little packages of Honey Roasted peanuts. It was a lot less than I had expected, I was glad I had my Spicy Chicken
Our engine was somewhat shiny
I had done my studying up on Atlanta beforehand, but I was still shocked when we arrived. I thought IAH was big...
------Some pics I took in downtown Atlanta------
I stayed in the Hyatt Regency! The only thing that wasn't perfect about it was that I couldn't see the airport from my room.
I didn't get any formal spotting time, but I made the most of the 2 hours I had before departure.
I'm gonna miss these
After boarding another CO 737-300, taxiing past ATL's mind-boggling maintenence facility, and waiting in line a few minutes, we took off for IAH.
Landed in Houston without incident, but had to run to get a shuttle bus to the DL flight home. Didn't get many decent shots this time
My plane home in a Houston Sunset
I originally had a window seat, but I let a girl that hadn't had one for the entire trip have mine. I long for the day when girls do not influence most of my thoughts/actions (if it ever comes...)
We landed in SLC in a blizzard (on 34R I believe, but as I didn't have a window or Channel 9 like UA, I couldn't tell).
I had an awesome time in Atlanta. The city/events were nice, but Hartsfield-Jackson Int'l definitely beats all of them hands down. I will be back!!!
This is my first trip report, let me know if you like it, and if I should post my SLC-ORD-JAX-ORD-SLC report.
