My DL 777 Experience...ATL-LAX

Sun Mar 12, 2006 12:32 am

So after much anticipation I was again able to fly the DL 772 since they have again put it on the ATL-LAX-ATL route once daily. see this link for my last experience in dec:
http://www.airliners.net/discussions...general_aviation/read.main/2516660

Last time I flew there was obviously an issue with the engines syncing or something which caused an extremely annoying "buzzsaw" (vibrations & noise) effect throughout the flight. However this time it was smooth as butter. my medallion upgrade did not clear but when I checked in I was number 3 on the standby list for bizelite with 5 seats open so I knew my chances were good. ended up getting 10J which, according to seatguru, was tagged yellow with limited legroom. I am a tall person so this had me a bit worried, but ended up to be just fine. it didnt have as much legroom as other bizelite seats, but I did not find it intrusive in the least.

So, the flight was great. great sunset at FL380. great service. and I dont know if it was because it was bizelite service, but the food was definitely an upgrade from the normal DL first meals. probably just coincidence. so overall, it ranked in my top 5 flights, Id have to say. I made sure to thank the f/a's that served me on the way out. great flight! keep it goin' delta!

I've flown the 772 twice, CVG-LGW-CVG and CVG-HNL-CVG, and both times, it was a very enjoyable experience. But, you have to make sure you go in First or BizElite, because there isn't a lot of room in economy, and on red-eyes it's tough to sleep unless you have the middle seat open.

Glad you had fun,

In what way was it an improvement? Was it just the food that was better, or was it the presentation?

I have found the food in domestic runs of BizElite to be middle ground between international BE and domestic First. Plus you get those hot fudge sundaes! Mmm....good.

How long ago was this, and were they equipment subs? From CVG, DL only has the 777 on the CDG route.

You definitely didn't fly on the 772 from CVG-HNL. You flew on a 764. Unless there was some freak equipment change, you did not fly on a Triple 7. You should've known, the 772 is way different in Business Elite than in Business First on the 764.
The proper term is "on final" not "on finals" bud...

I believer DL did fly the 777 on CVG-LGW for a while but for some reason decided they would be more profitable with the 777 placed somewhere else and have a 763 take its place (3 or 4 years ago at least). as far as I know DL hasn't used the 764 on any intl routes unless they just recently changed that idea.... I know I've heard talks about it somewhere.
