Excellent report and was well worth a look!

Thanks for sharing your (as it seems to have been) very positive experience with us.

I actually quite liked the fact you used photgrapgs with a little bit of text to describe your trip - I think this style really gives you that feeling of being there!!!

Cheers chap

Mark

P:S What service that your bags came thorugh in such a short time between plane transfers!!

Great report and pictures! Asiana First Class looks amazing; the pics of the seats and the meal service were great. That's nice that First wasn't too full.
I love to fly!

A couple observations:

Very dull looking interior on that plane - white on pale grey on pale yellow. Looks like the inside of a bus. No color at all?

Your words:
One thing that makes ASIANA a top notch service carrier, was that, there would be at least one crew STANDING at this counter for a standby, whenever passengers needed the assistance, they will be there to help you, regardless.
No wonder they receive THE BEST STAFF OF THE YEAR.

point  Um - that looks like a garbage receptacle to me - they have a F/A stand there to help you throw garbage away? I guess if they have one take you to the bathroom, maybe this isnt as weird as it first sounded.

Calling your own review magnificent? Maybe a little bit pompous?

I say this smiling, but I think you may have taken the term 'airliner geek' to a new level:
point  closeup photos of the floor to show the carpet pattern?
point  closeup of the empty tray table?
point  closeups of the air vent, bathroom sink and a closet door?
point  a photo of the toothpick you used to pick your teeth with?

I have to ask - do your fellow passengers and crew look at you with some suspicion as you're snapping away at -everything- ?

And (I know I'm about to get flamed all over the place here) - - but am I the only one getting a little tired of seeing so many trip reports covering -all- these intra-Asia flights (always, of course, in Business or First Class) ? And even though I am a cynical New Yorker, am I the only one who finds the overly subservient nature of the female F/A's on these carriers a little bit weird too?

I have to say I am guilty for taking quite a few photos in my trip reports but I did laugh at the above and find the photos of air vents a bit much! Pangs of Singapore_Air and the infamous sanitary towel test going on here!!

It reminds me of someone on Flyertalk who posted a trip report that mentioned the model of elevator in hotels he was staying in and compared the various ascents and descents

I love the fact that you took lots of "detailed" pictures!!!

Do you think there was too much food for a 3:30 hour flight ?

So did ! In fact, I have a few requests for his next report:

- the inside of the seat pocket (if possible, one each from First, Business
and Economy classes) for comparison purposes

- a photographic study of the complexion of the purser or another of
the higher ranking members of the cabin crew (preferably with closeups of
skin pores both her nose and forehead areas)

- an 'action' shot of the toilet in mid-flush, showing clearly the shade of blue
of the toilet chemical

- a closeup of a First Class toothpick .. after use this time

I hope this isn't too much to ask though!

Gee .. on the contrary , I feel that Magicalchaz has taken great effort to introduce almost every single aspect of the flight to us , and getting all this photos uploaded and captioned onto a forum isn't exactly easy. He's based in Australia presumably , so an intra-Asia flight to him could be an entirely whole new experience which he wishes to share. And almost every single user gives an entirely different opinion on the same particular flight ..

Lastly, it's not because Asian female F/As are weird. It's because you have gotten so accustomed to the surly service back home , that if an FA were to just flash a smile at you with your beverage service, you would probably think she's on dope or something.

Excellenr report - I've been thinking of a BKK-SIN-HKG-ICN in SQ+OZ F, maybe I'll do it or maybe I'll use the miles for Europe.

Perhaps you are just getting a little tired of a 3-hour flight in a one-class RJ where the F/A wears something that looks like a garbage bag and if you're lucky, serves you the full can of coke. Big grin Big grin

There is a threshold where a detailed report becomes completely overboard and filled with visual drivel and this is certainly it. I was laughing when I was looking through it and my girlfriend asked what was up and showed her. Her remarks were that it is an idiots guide to flying on an aircraft, and surely most of the audience are beyond that stage. Sure pictures are welcome and they tell 1000 words each and all that happy stuff but in my ideal F Class report should include pictures of the following:
-Lounges
-Cabin and seat
-Food
-Service
-Maybe details of amenity kit and other goodies, and perhaps check-in if it was slightly different to the norm.

To me the rest is a given. Do I need a picture of the overhead projector, the air con, overhead lockers, three pictures of the headphones, five of the bathroom, the functioning of the toilet occupancy light and the carpet pattern? I don't like bringing it back to my reports but on a recent F class report for almost 24hrs of flying I believe captured about 90% of what you did with less than a third of the photos (admittedly a lot of writing too!). Just my opinion and as I said you can't influence people's writing, or picture posting style.

To me though this is the pictorial version of Singapore_Air's infamous LHR-SIN report.

I wonder when we actually started setting standards for personal trip reports. To me , I have seen trip reports ranging from just cursory words to those just crammed with complaints/whines to those ultra-detailed ones. Unless the OP has made really inflammatory statements, I don't see a need to criticise the OP's style. In that same light, many of the trip reports out there have a 1001 pictures of aircraft the OP had spotted, but hardly any information on what actually happened onboard. Yet no one ever complains because this is a free forum to express in whatever style you feel comfortable in. Some just don't feel comfortable taking pictures in the lounge or at check-in , just for instance.

It's obvious that the OP was trying to create a 3D experience of the cabin in the less-efficient form of 2D pictures , which many airlines have produced in the form of a Quicktime clip.

Your report was definitely a pleasure to read but no comments on your self-perceived higher efficiency of trip-report production. You are definitely entitled to your opinion, but I really wonder if statements like yours might put off future users from posting TRs , in fear of not conforming to some "unwritten" standard.

As everyone's favourite disclaimer goes , "just my opinion".  Smile

thumbsup  And I agree with this completely. I'm not saying everyone should conform to a certain style but any means. After all every writes their reports in the style they'd like to see from others.

In the same way that the Singapore_Air report I mentioned earlier produced a near uproar from those who claimed it went overboard with detail (watery excrement anyone  Wink) I felt this one did with the amount of pictures within.

I agree with JeffrySkY. Magicalchaz's trip report was very fun going through! I've never been on Asiana, so any picture is welcome, even the picture of the carpet, etc (and no I'm not being sarcastic).

BTW, I never expected Fbgdavidson (or anyone else) to make fun of someone's trip report...

Fbgdavidson, if you remember, something similar happened in one of your trip reports too. A couple of members took offense to your description of Economy class passengers when you were travelling in the premium cabin.  Smile

Magicalchaz, I think you take a lot of pictures, and that is great. The number of pictures in this report pales in comparison to your previous one (which had more than 150). My only recommendation would be that you should take a litlte more time in composing your pictures. Often, they seem to be taken in a hurry, are blurry; if you spend a little more time on each picture (and probably reduce the total number), the outcome would be much better.

That is just my 2 cents. I do like reading your reports, which always seem to be in F, and is not something that I get to enjoy.  Smile

I just did SYD-ICN-LHR with Asiana in business (got upgraded to F on the ICN-LHR leg)

The service was amazing and far better than what we received with BA on the flight LHR-SIN-SYD earlier in the month.

All the need to do is upgrade the seats (which they are currently doing with the A330's and 1 777 currently). In syaing that the J seats were still very comfortable and the service more than made up for it! We received a Wedgwood salt and pepper set as a thanks for flying with them in F also!
