Being a frequent Northwest Airlines traveler, I find the DC-9 to be a nice aircraft to fly on. Even though the legroom is not the best, it is still great to fly on such an old aircraft.
When I checked in, MSP
was not very crowded. It was a clear, sunny day so most flights were leaving on-time.
Northwest Airlines #136
As I walked to gate G-15, I spotted a Northwest 747-400 heading to Tokyo-Narita.
G-16 was very crowded as a 757-200 was in the "oversold situation" for Memphis.
I continued to stroll down the G- Concourse and spotted a Fun Jet Vacations 737 heading to the runway. Where might this jet be going? I've never seen it at MSP
757-200 (on the right) was heading to Memphis, while an EMB-145 passes behind.
At about 4:50pm, the flight began to board and the DC-9 was only about 3/4 full this evening. The captain came on the PA to announce that we would have to wait a few extra minutes before departing, due to a busy O' Hare.
At about 5:25 we pushed back, and headed to the runway. After waiting for a company DC-9-30 to depart, we took off.

The flight to ORD
was 50 minutes, and it was nice to recieve a full beverage service. Being seated in #15B, I only had my drink for about 5 minutes, before the flight attendants came to collect the trash. Still, it was nice to get something.
We hit a little turbulence coming into O'Hare, and circled quite a bit before coming into land.
After touching down, we taxied over to E-11, and parked.
I didn't realize that the E-Concourse also had some United flights. I thought they just had use of Terminals C and D.
This Continental was getting ready to head to IAH

Northwest Airlines #135
NWA check in at O' Hare took all of 5 minutes, and soon I was heading down the E- Concourse. Air Canada's new EMB-170 was boarding for Montreal, and a Continental 735 was getting ready for a flight to IAH
United 737-500 (NC
) heading to the runway:
Gate E-13 was empty, and didn't get busy until about 30 minutes prior to the flight.
The flight boarded around 2:05pm, and soon I was entering the aircraft. Every seat was taken in First Class, and coach began to fill quickly. At about 230pm, the door shut and we pushed back.
Taxi to the runway was short, and soon we were airborne to MSP
. Flight time was estimated at 1 hr 3 mins, and it went very quickly. Again, a full beverage service was offered.
30 minutes out of MSP
, we began our descent. As we passed downtown Minneapolis for arrival, it was amazing to see a CRJ-200 so close to us!
We taxied for a few minutes and parked at D-3.
Very good flights overall.
