Trip Report Reminder/ideas

Wed Jun 28, 2006 10:34 am

Hi my fellow a.netters,

In my opinion, EVERY trip report here shows interest, style, and most importantly, a sincere love of aviation and respect for fellow a.netters.

I would like you to know about airlinemeals.net. If you don't know, they are all about inflight catering. Those of you who include photos of food presentations would be greatly appreciated by those who "lurk" airlinemeals.net (like me).

While I enjoy the photos here, there are some people (very few) that don't know about a.net. I wish I could turn them on to a.net, as well (as some of you know, I'm an old fanatic  old  Wink).

Do us all a favor. Enhance our lives with your photos, trip reports, etc., in any website dedicated to airlines or airliners. If you really think about it, you're documenting history!

Again, thank you all for your efforts to inform, educate, and ENTERTAIN all of us here! I personally am most appreciative.

What drives me crazy about airlinemeals is that, unless I'm completely missing it, there's no way to search on airline/class/route -- to find out what meals you might get transpac on UA in C you need to browse through all the UA meals, maybe using your browser's "find" within each page. Not very efficient. If they let you search on individual fields the way a.net did, it would be a lot more useful.

It's a great site, and it tells the tale of the difference between US carriers and non-US carriers . . . .

See if you can find a FULL breakfast served on ANY RJ flight in the US, then go to LH and have a look.

US carriers ought to be frackin' embarrassed . . . .

Hell, I've been on UA Express in F and can't even get a bag a peanuts on a 3 hours flight! And flying on some European carriers on an RJ for 90 minutes there's a full breakfast.

Then compare transcons - with the exception of UAs Premium Service - and they are average.

Don't even begin to compare US carriers trans-Atlantic or Pacific against a non-US carrier. The US carriers will be shamed every time.

Disgraceful state the US carriers these days.

Hi!

When I share in the A.Net forum my reports I try above all to give some good and valuable information regarding the airline I'm flying. I'm not in this place to compete or to try to write a book, just valuable information. When I check this place before I fly I try also to get has much information possible regarding the airline, the flight and why not the airplane?
I come from a country with an airline that was one of the pioneering ones to give wine on coach/economy class since many years ago. Also I see that all the non-US airlines I flew always give alcoholic drinks to passengers ocoach/economy class, I don't understand why the US airlines don't do that! Is this still remains of the 30's "Dry Law"???? It's a pitty!

Noooo . . . it's all about the $$$.

AS used to give free wine in Y - and not so long ago. Those days are gone.

Most gave free liquor trans-Atlantic or Pacific. Now rare a Y pax will get free any damn thing.

It's all about the $$$ - nothing to do with the "blue law".

Hi!

ANCFlyer, thanks for your information!!! I guess because I come from a "wine country" that bugs me a little!!! But it's so strange.....I spent the year of 2003 in California ( Fresno more precisely..) and I had the chance to visit Napa Valley and taste the wine there ( I visited Domain Chandon and Beringer ) and the taste, quality and price were excelent.....so I come it is about $$$$ when USA probably have a much bigger wine area than our tinny little Portugal????

I didn't mean to get down on US airlines, but I have to agree as well. Even some of the coach "snacks" on foreign carriers put the US to shame. It's sad, but true. Again, from the country that showed mankind he could fly!
