I take the opportunity while on the plane on my way back to BIQ after the summer A.NET meeting in ZRH
to write this report. I would congratulate
one more time the organisation team. This meet was really good. I saw really amazing and friendly people. But that's another story.
It will cover the ZRH
leg. Flight #AF3477 was operated by Regional, on behalf of Air France. The plane (F-GTSJ) was an Embraer 120. I had the pleasure to have the seat 2A, with means that I was alone (1+2 cabin), on the first row. Due to pretty big windows (I had two of them from my seat), I had a good view of the #1 propeller and of the landscape.
The flight was boarded on time, but our departure was delayed for some 30 minutes, due to slot/ATC restrictions in ZRH
. Not that bad.
We boarded the aircraft by bus, witch give us a close overview of the ramp operation (luggage loading and so on).
After a little wait on the bus, the Flight Attendant lets us board the plane. I had my back pack, my computer case and my camera. It was OK
for the FA
, and she offers me to handle all of that for me. Good!
When the aircraft was fully boarded, some Swissport crew boards the plane. The FA
lost her luggage in the last flight due to error from the ground. Good to see that also append to the crew
So she was with the Swissport staff trying to find a way to localize her bag. At a certain point, the Captain of the flight found it on … Amsterdam! She was pretty angry about that, and asks Swissport crew for some explanations: “The green tagged bags are not supposed to leave the ground etc…) The guy was somewhat confuse. So the Captain begins to speak and said: “Zurich Zero, you are NOT World Champion” etc. I found it VERY arrogant
and less than polite. Shame on that
. The crew replies: “We try our best” and apologize one more time.
Let’s proceed with the flight, now. It was somewhat uneventful, before the turbulence. Both captain and FA
warn us about turbulence to come. We were asked to fasten the seat belt. Ok, so we encounter “typical” turbulence, maybe over-rated by passenger due to the small size of the plane. After a little while, we encounter bigger one. The plane litterraly fall for a few seconds. The scream began in the cabin, it was amazing. I acknowledge that the dive was somewhat impressive!
The flight ended at LYS
pretty late. Connected flight was a problem for some PAX. They were transferred directly for the tarmac. My connection was tight also. I only had the time to proceed within the terminal, clear the custom and reach the gate on the other side of the airport. My flight to BIQ was on time. But that’s another story!
This mini trip report is also a way to tell that I’m now back in BIQ after this amazing week end. Tomorrow “landing” at work will be sometwhat “bumpy” …
