Ok here is my little report on the trip over to the Mega-meet in ZRH
. Started on 27Jul departing from SDF
. The airplane CRJ-700 operated by Comair as Delta Connection. Unfortunately did not catch the registration. Decent flight, but a little late arriving into SDF
and thus returning to ATL
delayed. Which was great because it cut my 4 hour sit in ATL
to about 3. Arrived into the D concourse in ATL
. Connecting to the E concourse for the flight to ZRH
BusinessElite Seat 2F
Decent flight over on an outdated 767-300ER. The seat was OK
, however very small for Biz Class. Very narrow, and does not provide a good recline to sleep. As far as IFE, it is also an outdated system, with video games that date back to the mid 1980's. However, the DL
international food service is exquisite. Was offered choice of Lamb, Grouper, Pasta or Soup. I had the Lamb with Potatoes and vegetables. For breakfast had the choice of a Quesadilla or Cereal. I chose the Quesadilla, very good. The flight was fairly lengthy in duration at around 9h 23m. Early arrival into ZRH
. THe E concourse was our arrival terminal, must say it is a very nice terminal.

The return required me to go via IAD
on the way home to MCO
. United 936 from ZRH
. Back to the airline that I have had the longest benefits on. Again the 767-300ER. This time utilizing the F cabin, which is good for UA
on the small international airplanes. Good seat, nice and wide with Personal video and a personal video player. So had extra movies to choose from outside of the main cabin features. The captain left Ch 9 on until we cleared Scottish onto the North Atlantic Crossing. Bad part to this flight was the we were held at the gate in ZRH
due to ATC delays in IAD
. This was a little over an hour, so got to enjoy my seat and talk to the person seated on the window. We finally pushed off and headed on a slow taxi to RWY 16. We got the clearance to go and away we went. Good IFE and good meal. Had Filet Mignon with Risotto and Vegetable Sautee. Very good dining. Unfortunately did not have any adult beverages on this leg. Got about 3 1/2 - 4 hours of sleep on this leg. About 1 1/2 hours prior to landing was offered a cold deli plate or a Roast Beef on Ciabatta offering. Took the Ciabatta offering. The strange part of the route took us almost over Greenland's southern coast. Landfall in North America was actually in between Montreal and Kuujuaq. Finally made the descent over central Pennsylvania. Landed on RWY 1R and into gate C14. Cleared Immigration in no time, but the queue for Customs was unbelievable.

My first try to get on a flight after arrival was met with disappointment, missed getting on the flight by about 4 people. So sat for 4 hours in IAD
twiddling my thumbs. Walked around the concourses and did a little spotting myself. Most interesting was the new VS
A346. G-VFIZ "Bubbles" launched July 2006. But anyways, sat in the gate area at about 1 hour prior to scheduled departure, waiting to get on the flight. Good part is I got on, the bad part I pulled into my driveway at 0015. I was so glad I was not going to ORD
. Every flight had at least a 3 hour delay. The continuation of my flight 936 had a 3 hour delay due to ATC, must have been thunderstorms in the area. Anyways, typical Ted flight to MCO
. Short subject video programming for the 1 hr 43 min flight. However no sodas were loaded on the flight, only water, alcohol, and lemonade. Overall travel was not that bad, but traveling as staff is getting harder and harder. Especially during the Holiday's.
I would like to thank everyone who made the meet in ZRH
an extreme success. I will also be looking forward to the setup of the next meet wherever that may be.
