Midwest Airlines (MSP-MKG) Part 4(pics)!

Fri Aug 11, 2006 10:38 am

Part #4 of 4

After a quick lunch in the central part of the Milwaukee airport (MKE), I passed through security again and walked down the "D" Concourse.

The concourse was much busier than before, and lots of different flights were getting ready to leave.

Here's a Midwest 717 bound for DCA:

This one was bound for ATL:

After walking around the concourse again, I sat down for a while and did some reading at my gate D-42, where my flight to MSP would be leaving from.

At about 1:15pm, our 717 arrived at the gate and passengers got off. A few minutes after it arrived, the catering truck appeared ready to stock all the new cookies for our flight!

At 1:40pm, the boarding processs began for our flight:

Flight #4

Midwest Airlines #526
MKE-MSP
717-200
45% Full
2:05pm-3:20pm (sched) 2:05pm-3:15pm (actual)
55 minutes

After several passengers boarded, I walked up and handed my boarding pass to the agent and got on the 717. I was greeted by two flight attendants, and as I walked down the aisle I heard some nice classical music playing. Wow, I have not heard music playing during boarding since flying many years ago to Europe! Midwest Airlines is the best!

Here's another picture of those incredible "recaro seats. "

At about 2:00pm, the door was shut and the safety recording began as we pushed back.

The taxi to the runway was very short, and soon we were climbing away from MKE.

One of the flight attendants came on the intercom to say that this would be a "cookie flight" and that a limited beverage service would be offered. Again, the flight attendants began the service from the rear, and after a short wait, I was once again having the incredible baked on-board cookies.

The cabin was very quiet for the entire flight, and even one of the flight attendants remarked that this was the most quiet flight she had been on.

At about 2:50pm, we began our descent into MSP.

After making a few turns in order to line up for landing, we came down for a very smooth landing. We taxied off the runway near the C- concourse and had a long taxi back to the Humphrey terminal.

Here's a NWA A320 that was getting ready for departure.

As the 717 came to a stop at Gate H8, I was sad as my last of my 4 flights on Midwest Airlines was over. I can't wait to fly the airline again, as I had some of the best flights in recent memory.

Midwest Airlines is #1 in my book. They really are "The best care in the air"

Grade= A+

Comments and suggestions are welcome!

I've heard good things about Midwest. I've got a family member flying SFO/MKE in September. She's going to her grandson's wedding in MKE, so I put her on Midwest. Nonstop flights, reputed good service, we shall see. I think she'll have a good trip with them. I would love to get through to Midwest DX in SFO so they can be warned! The lady is a real character - in a good way, but sort of becoming the dizzy duchess at this point in her life. Thursday, 9/14 YX924 SFO 14:55 MKE 20:51 seat 4B. She'll be a lot of fun for the F/A's if they pay attention to her! Thanks to any YX'er who'll watch over this angel.  cloudnine

Thanks,

Tbear (Rod)  goodvibes

Tbear815,

Thanks for your comment! Midwest flies the MD-88 to and from SFO, and the seating configuration is 2-3, but the service is still the same. Good food for sale, and cookies made on the flight. Only on the 717 is the seating 2-2.

Am I the only one who can't find parts 2 and 3?

EDIT: Found it, I guess I'm just crazy.

Very nice! Good to see ome shots of MKE in a trip report!
Will you watch the Cleveland Browns and the Detroit Lions on Sunday? Only if coach Eric Mangini resigned after a loss.

Delta732FF, thanks for your comment! You're welcome! I'm glad you liked the reports. Yeah, the connection can be annoying, but they do have lots of flights through Kansas City as well.

Great report, Midwest seems like an excellent carrier to fly on. Out of curiosity, how many flights does Midwest operate out of MKE?

Thanks for your comment! Well, MKE is one the their main hubs, and so a lot of flights are operated by them. Northwest also has a presence at the airport and operates many flights to Detroit and Minneapolis. I would say Midwest accounts for about 60% of the traffic at MKE.

There are actually a few MD-80s with the 2-2 signature seating configuration. Most of them are configured with the 3-2 saver service. You'll know which one you have by looking up your flight on Midwest's website.

Thanks for letting me know! I thought that with the new "Super Saver" service, all the MD-80's were made 2-3 seating. Its good to know that a few are still 2-2. Thanks again for your comment!

Can I ask if you don't want to connect period, or you just don't want to connect through MKE?
