Northwest LGA-MSP On An A320(with Pics)

Thu Sep 07, 2006 6:12 am

After the remnants of Hurricane Ernesto came through the New York area during the first part of Labor Day weekend, it began to get sunny during the afternoon on Sunday. On Monday, September 4, it was once again a nice day in NYC.

At around 9:30am, I arrived at New York LGA for my flight back to MSP. The airport was surprisingly busy for Labor Day, but luckily the check-in desks for Northwest were not too crowded.

Today, I would be flying:

Northwest Airlines #113
LGA-MSP
A320
100% Full
Sched (11:30am-1:23pm)
Actual (11:32am-1:15pm)

Within a few minutes, I walked over to security and waited in a long line for about 15 minutes.

At about 9:45am, I got something to eat, and then began to walk down to Gate 9, where my flight would be leaving from. All the Delta gates were very crowded, and Northwest was in the process of boarding a flight to Detroit at Gate 8 when I arrived.

Here's a Delta 757-200 getting ready to head to Atlanta. The catering truck had just arrived.

Here's a Delta 737-800 also going to Atlanta.

This Delta MD-88 at Gate 1 was bound for Nassau.

Here comes a NW A320 pulling into Gate 10.

At around 11:00am, the first boarding announcement was made for flight #113 to MSP. After the second announcement, everyone began to approach the door, and after waiting in a rather long line, I got down to the aircraft and found #16F.

Here's a view from my seat:

Delta #383 to Nassau

The door was shut at around 11:30am, and we began to push. The captain came on to tell us that the flight would be 2 hours and 17 minutes, and that we would be arriving a few minutes early into MSP.

There was lots of traffic around the airport, and after waiting for an AA MD-83, and an Air Canada EMB-170 we finally took off.

Here's a few pictures taken right after departure from LGA.

About 20 minutes after takeoff, the flight attendants came through with beverages and snacks for sale. The snack box price has gone from $3-$5 and the trail mix snack is now $2.

After the beverage service was completed and after doing some reading, I fell asleep for the rest of the flight and woke up as were descending into MSP.

We came down for a smooth landing, and turned off near the F-Concourse.

The taxi to Gate C-13 did not take too long, and soon I was walking out of the jetway.

All in all, a very nice, short flight.

From what I understand is that the trail mix now has become quite a larger package. It also sounds like they added more types of snacks.

Yes, the snack box now contains more packets of cheese, some good crackers, and then some other candy type snacks.

According to the nwa.com, the snack box is still $3 and the trail mix is $1. I flew Northwest on EWR - MSP on August 26th and 31st and the $3 / $1 prices were still in effect.

Perhaps the NW flight attendants are upping the price to compensate for NW slashing their salaries!

Yeah, the prices must have just changed, and became effective September 1st.

Once again, nice pics and report.
I wish UA flew mainline to MYR, that way you wouldn't be stuck in a smelly Saturn for 12 hours.
