Sorry no pics..
Wife and I had our first European trip on 8/25/2006
Flying AA 763 non-stop to DFW-CDG 1710 departure time. We arrived to DFW's new Terminal D 3 hours ahead of departure just like AA advised but the AAgent mentioned that it might be a little too early concerning we were the 2nd couple to check-in!! 2 and half hours in Terminal D wasn't too bad as we walked around a lot checking out the new place as it's very impressive in both decor and size. We saw Lufhansa departing for FRA, AC to YVR, and a number of domestic destinations. Wife browsed the duty free shops, almost bought something but i stopped her and reminded her that we'll be "shopping" in Paris! Around 4:30, the GA announced that the flight was oversold and they need 2 volunteers to be bumped and they are offering a free night of hotel near DFW and J class to MIA then to CDG on 8/26 (Saturday), also they are including a $100 voucher/person, too bad we had the train tickets leaving Paris to La Rochelle on Saturday but i would have taken the deal! We boarded on-time while GA still solicited for the volunteers as no one really took the bait, plus who wants to stay one more day in this 104 heat when you can be in the nice 80 degree weather in Paris.
We sat in Y row 27, the interior seemed to be really old as our seats' recliner did not work correctly where as we lean back, the seats automatically leaned as well. Food was okay for Y but not good, we were offered Beef with Potatoe or Chicken with Pasta, my pasta was kind of dry and hard.
We had about 4 hours of sleep on the plane till we landed in CDG, the entire flight was enjoyable.
We had a great time in France, La Rochelle in 3 days and Paris in 6!
On 9/4/2006 Labor day we are coming back CDG-DFW at 11:15. We arrived to the airport about 3 hours ahead, we had plenty of time to finish the Detax paper-work as we both Shopped! the wait time at the AA 49 to Dallas counter was almost comical. People stood inline when 3 security personells searched did the asking, also most of the people in front of us were fully searched. We were very lucky as the AA security was quiet good to us as she found out that she had the same name as my wife but she did mention that we will have to check-in our carry-on. At the gate, we waited for about an hour when they announced that they are going to board people a lot sooner because they will be SEARCHING EVERYONE. This searching lasted for almost an hour as we did not get on the plane till 11:45 and the plane did not take off till 12:30! I saw an Pakistiani family (women were all covered with burka like veils) of 3 that was totally searched from head to toe!
The interior of this 767 was quiet different from the first one as it looked a lot newer. Food was a lot better as well as we had a choice of again beef or chicken. I personally could not sleep on the plane so i just watched 2 movies, one is Firewall the other is some cheesy movie about some Mexican American playing Soccer for Newcastle United i think the title is called Goal!
The customs at DFW was a breeze as we only waited for our luggage a little longer than anticipated but the custom officers basically just welcomed us home and did not really give us any problems.
For all the two flights, no liquid, gel and make up of anykind was premitted on the plane!
