FLL-LAX-MIA On Delta/American

Thu Nov 30, 2006 9:55 am

Flight 1:
Depart: Ft. Lauderdale
Arrive: Los Angeles
Airline: Delta (Song Aircraft)
Equipment: Boeing 757-200
Class: Economy
Meal: Breakfast

I was heading out to LA to go see the Dogers-Mets game. I arrived at FLL about 1 Hour & 15 Minutes before my 7:10 flight. I dropped of my car at the Hibiscus Garage and took the shuttle over to Terminal B. I checked in curbside and went through security in seconds (Literally, there was nobody in front of me). I went to a mediocre restaurant and ate breakfast. By the time I finished my breakfast it was time to board. The plane boarded quickly as there was only 63 people on the plane. I went to seat 22A and sat down. Unfortunately, the entertainment system wasn't turned on until we were in flight. Once we were level the breakfast was served and the PTVs were turned on. The flight was just perfect until we started our approach. We were flying extermely low by the time we were on our final approach. We were literally yards from touchdown and then all of a sudden the engines powered up and we were back up in the air. The pilot announced that a JAL 747-400 to Tokyo had hit a bird on its takeoff roll and needed to evacuate the runway so we circled around and then landed.

Flight 2:
Depart: Los Angeles
Arrive: Miami
Airline: American
Equipment: Boeing 767-300
Class: Economy
Meal: Dinner

I arrived at LAX about 2 hours before the flight as I know how bad security is at LAX. So, I got through security in about an hour and 15 minutes. With 20 minutes to spare before boarding I stopped at the Expedia.com cafe. I grabbed a sandwich and headed to the gate. Once I was boarded it was about 20 minutes until we departed. But once again there was something wrong with planes on the runway. A Continental 738 to Newark had dropped some debris during takeoff. It was cleaned up and we departed. The Inflight movie was The Devil Wears Prada. The flight attendent was extremely kind to me and even brought me dessert from the First Class cabin. We came into approach and I looked out my window to see a Continental 737-500 to Houston.
