Trip To Washington D.C. And New York

Wed Jan 10, 2007 12:05 pm

July 2006
I woke up very early because I was very excited to go to the East. My uncle came and took my dad, mom, sister, and I to the train station. We got off the train and checked in our bags. When we passed the security checkpoint I went to the international gates. There was only one DC-10 going to HNL.
Flight:
Flight number:1711
Airline:NW
From:MSP To:DCA
Aircraft:A320
When we boarded a kid was about to press buttons that controlled the gate and I almost screamed, but a flight attendant told the kid not to press the buttons.
My dad and I were in first class and my mom and sister were in coach class. Our pilot made a little joke which made me stop being nervous since last flight was 2 years ago I believe. We went to the runway and tookoff. The A320 made a weird but normal noise which I usually hear when an baby bus (A318,319,320) takes off. I played my Nintendo DS and lost on Mario Kart. Then I listened to my CD Player. After that I had my lunch which was a sandwich which was very good. I looked toward the ground seeing Lake Michigan. Then we were descending and saw Washington. The plane banked a lot and finally landed. There was something by the gate that made a loud noise.

We went to the baggage claim and there was a NW 744 model on top of the baggage machine and one of the engines was missing. Soon there were bags coming out and I saw my bag so I tried to grab it, but I missed. Then it came around again and I missed again! My sister grabbed my bag and we went to our aunt's car. I saw a subway train (Metro) which I knew I was going to like. For 6 days we did some stuff at my aunt and uncle's town house. There was a Seven Eleven store right next to the backyard, so I had a slushy there. The Metro was fine, but the horn always scared me when it blew.

We went to New Jersey in my uncle's truck. Stayed at a hotel for a night then went on the train to New York. We went into the Empire State Building, looked at shops, and went on a tour bus. After that we went bock on the train to our hotel in New Jersey. The next day we went on the train again to New York. My dad and I went to the Intrepid Battle Ship and saw the Concorde and went inside it.

Then we went back to Washington and saw more sites. We also went to the ocean.

Then it was time to go home.

I forgot the flight number.

My dad and I were in first class again. I had a Mountain Dew and drank the whole thing. My dad and I played chess and I was about to win, but the plane was descending. We landed and my sister got nice photos of a DC-10 and Icelandair 757.

A nice trip and back home with a DC-10 to welcome me.

I was very tired and wanted to be in the East still. The first two photos are at MSP.

Correct me if I made any errors.

I forgot to add that I went to the Regan Building in Washington D.C. I saw a part of the Berlin Wall, and had lunch at a Subway restaurant. Also the train company that I went on from Princeton, New Jersey to New York was on NJ Transit.

Nice report. Doesn't NW clean their airplane interior windows on daily basis?

that is too obvious, hope the missing engine is back by now

the belt must be that fast -- I think I did miss my bag once because I was not paying attention (talking to someone or looking at something else)

The windows are a little dirty in the photos. I'm also hoping the engine is back on the model.
