A Great Day In The Cockpit.

If this is the wrong forum. Sorry! I thought it fits in here. You may redirect this for sure! A deletion would be sad though.

Hi there!

I would like too share a nice day on board of 2 Lufthansa aircrafts with you. I have been flying from CDG to FRA and retour for finding an apartment around FRA as I’ll move soon. I took LH4213 starting at 11.00 LT. The friendly crew allowed me a jumpseat ride in the cockpit of D-AIRH. I enjoyed it very much as I know some interesting stuff about this plane since I got my type training for maintenance mechanics on the A320 family shortly. We pulled out of parking position X05 at satellite 6 at CDG1. After engine start we got our taxi clearance to rwy 27L via the outer loop (Alpha loop), twy Delta and Quebec to holding point K7.

As we were riding with speedy 27 knots GS over the bridge at the Alpha loop, we had to slow down because of a really slow taxiing AC B767. As the 767 turned into November the PNF requested permission for twy F for to overtake the slow travelling AC. The request was denied. I think because F is used for traffic that landed on 27L/R and needs to taxi to CDG2 and CDG3. At least that’s what’s on my Jeppesen charts. (See 20-9D if you have the charts).
The controller asked the Canadian guys to hurry up a bit due to traffic behind. And they did so.

Here you can see my view on twy N. http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c184/lufthansi/01011243.jpg

While turning on twy B I could take a nice shot of the “daydreamers” http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c184/lufthansi/01011245.jpg

On Y12 we saw a huge crowd of AF A340 and B777. Look at this one speeding up as we were waiting on K7. http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c184/lufthansi/01011248.jpg

When this guy passed the pilots started the chronometers because a minimum time is needed to avoid wake turbulences before entering the rwy and especially in flight. After I think 3 minutes we were cleared for take off. Here we taxied into position and hold. http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c184/lufthansi/01011250.jpg

The A321 was speeding up a bit slow for me. I’m used to the 737 and recently had an take off with unrated engines. That was much more power! Gears are up and we’re passing 1000ft.
http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c184/lufthansi/01011251.jpg

A sharp right turn and a lot of shortcuts made put us ahead of schedule. http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c184/lufthansi/01011253.jpg

Final approach to Frankfurt. Financial district can be seen here. http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c184/lufthansi/01011258.jpg

ONE HUNDRED… camera is still on. SNAP! ….. http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c184/lufthansi/01011260.jpg
FIFTY, FOURTY…

Now I found a new apartment. I’m very happy as I only had one picked out for this trip. I checked in using the self boarding procedure. Here I wait at gate A34. My name is written on the standby list. http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c184/lufthansi/01011261.jpg

I was very lucky catching another great 737 crew which had just arrived from Turin. http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c184/lufthansi/01011262.jpg

We were taxing out to rwy 18. Take off power set, you have controls. http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c184/lufthansi/01011265.jpg

Franfurt Radar, Guten Abend this is Lufthansa 61 Foxtrott airborne outta 18 passing 1000’. Hallo, you’re identified climb flight level 170 and turn right heading 230.
http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c184/lufthansi/01011267.jpg

Yes, that’s one of the reasons why I love flying http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c184/lufthansi/01011271.jpg

The Co was in need for a “short break”. Too much coffee?  http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c184/lufthansi/01011278.jpg

Joining this view has been a truly amazing experience to me! http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c184/lufthansi/01011286.jpg

One thing came in my mind: Do you want to claim your Abitur or not!?… http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c184/lufthansi/01011291.jpg

Passing some thin cloud layers on finals for 27R at CDG http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c184/lufthansi/01011302.jpg

Runway inside. Engine anti ice off, flaps 15 please. Whoop whoop. Auto pilot off. http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c184/lufthansi/01011303.jpg

Bon soir! Cleared to land 27R. http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c184/lufthansi/01011304.jpg

A great approach for a smooth touch down http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c184/lufthansi/01011306.jpg

Once again. FIFTY… http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c184/lufthansi/01011309.jpg

LH 61F hold short of 27L

Hm. No torches??? Anyway. Taxi lights and rwy turn off lights are off, APU GEN on, APU bleed on. Marshaller is waving us into X05 where my trip started some hours ago. http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c184/lufthansi/01011318.jpg

After engine shutdown checklisthttp://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c184/lufthansi/01011320.jpg

Wow, that was great!!!  Wow!
The sunset pics in the 737 were the best, IMHO.
Hope you get onto some more lucky rides like that.  Wink

Whow!

How did you manage to get the Cockpit jumpseat? As I know meanwhile this is forbidden even for employees of the airline.

Nevertheless. Great report. Thanks for sharing the pics. I wish I could do this, too.

Do you mind if I use one of your pics as my desktop picture on my laptop? I really like your sunset picture in the cockpit.

To answer your questions the pictures say bandwidth exceeded - photobucket.com.

Well, I can't see the pictures but the place where they should be says: photobucket.com (site were the pictures are hosted) and bandwidth exceeded (the reason why we can't see the pictures - his photobucket account has a certain bandwidth limit and he used it all to show his pics to those lucky guys who saw this trip report earlier than us). I guess you can't even see the message from photobucket.com?

Lufthansi please find a new site to host your pictures!

Ah, now I get it ! No, I can't even see the message !

As far as I know, imageshack has no bandwidth limitation.
