Redmond-Anchorage On Alaska Airlines (pics)

Tue Feb 20, 2007 11:31 am

WARNING!!!! This is my first attempted Trip Report!

16 FEB 2007

Airline: Horizon
Aircraft: Dash-8-Q200 (N350PH)
Flight: 2056 Redmond Oregon (RDM) - Seattle Washington (SEA)
Seat: 4A (Window Exit)
Scheduled Departure Time: 7:50 PM
Actual Departure Time: 7:57 PM
Scheduled Arrival Time: 9:00 PM
Actual Arrival Time: 8:56 PM

Checking in was painless and quick, though parking wasn't fun. RDM is going through a time of expansion and finding a place to park involves a lot of driving around and then about a 1/2 mile walk. The plane was a bit late which is typical for evening flights. Boarding was fast, as the crew and gate agents were trying to make up for lost time. I took my seat and we were under way. I was unable to take any photos since it was night. The lovely flight attendant came through and offered everyone chips and salsa along with a beverage, including complimentary beer and wine for those over 21. By the time I had finished my chips and drink, we were starting our descent into SEA. We landed and parked at the C2 gates.

I had a little time before my next flight so i headed to the Alaska Airlines Board Room for a snack and a rest. The Board room has a tremendous view from the second floor, too bad it was night. I grabbed a fresh cookie, cup of soup, some potato chips and a cranberry juice. I ate quick and watched a 737-700 get serviced below me.

Airline: Alaska Airlines
Aircraft: 737-400 (N705AS)
Flight: 129 Seattle Washington (SEA) - Anchorage Alaska (ANC)
Seat: 2A (First Class, Window)
Scheduled Departure Time: 10:30 PM
Actual Departure Time: 10:32 PM
Scheduled Arrival Time: 1:00 AM
Actual Arrival Time: 12:49 AM (-1 hour time change)

I walked down to gate C 15 to find out that I was upgraded to First Class (love being a MVP Gold). After a quick taxi we took off to the south and made a quick turn back to the northwest. Shortly after takeoff the flight attendents came through and gave all first class customers a Dig-e-Player. This had a number of movies, T V shows, cartoons, music videos, destination information, ESPN sports, Alaska Airlines Information and music. I chose to watch The Guardian (my house in Alaska is in it  Smile ). Since it was a night flight there wasnt a meal service, but all F passengers recieved a bag of snack mix, and a bowl of warm nuts. I also downed about 5 juices. I feel asleep but woke up before touchdown. We taxied to Gate C4 and our bags arrived in about 10 minutes.

I wasnt able to take any pictures during any of my four flights due to it being night, but I did take some while I was spotting at the airport and wandering around Anchorage.

18 FEB 2007

Airline: Alaska Airlines
Aircraft: 737-400 (N795AS)
Flight: 96 Anchorage (ANC) - Seattle (SEA)
Seat: 3F (First Class, Window)
Scheduled Departure Time: 4:30 PM
Actual Departure Time: 4:30 PM
Scheduled Arrival Time: 9:00 PM
Actual Arrival Time: 8:24 PM (+1 hour time change)

Check in was a breeze and I flew through security thanks to my MVP Gold card. Once through security, I headed to the Board Room and grabbed some cheese and crackers. Then I decided to walk around my favorite airport. I wanted to get a good look at a 737-400 combi, I also saw the Make a Wish 737 along with the Salmon-thirty-Salmon. The I was walking down past the Conco-Phillips/BP gate and there were about 100 calendar/posters. Each poster had Northern Air Cargo's new 737-200 freighter with a mountian background. I grabbed 3  Smile. I went to gate C2 to find that I had been upgraded again!

I took my seat and we were off like a......737 out of ANC! Soon after departure I recived my Dig-e-Player, this time I watched Little Miss Sunshine. I was served a chicken pesto sandwich with swiss and a side salad. The meal was above average and it was topped off with a chocolate. All F passengers were also given a 75th anniversary bookmark. We landed in SEA ahead of schedule and we parked at N10 in the North Satilite.

After a quick subway trip, I headed to the Board room and snatched a few fresh cookies. I read the newspaper and the Alaska Airlines Magazine. Then I was off for my flight to RDM.

Airline: Horizon
Aircraft: Dash-8-Q200 (N345PH)
Flight: 2167 Seattle (SEA) - Redmond (RDM)
Seat: 1E (Window Exit)
Scheduled Departure Time: 10:15 PM
Actual Departure Time: 10:16 PM
Scheduled Arrival Time: 11:55 PM
Actual Arrival Time: 11:45PM

I boarded at gate C2E and walked out to the Dash. I took my seat and we took off right on time. I was served chips and salsa again along with a beverage. I feel asleep and awoke to the landing gear begin lowerd. We landed and our bags were out to us in about 10 minutes.

Time and time again I have been impressed by Alaska and Horizon, and this time was no exception. I would reccomend them to anyone!!!

Those are moose, we were driving down the road next to all the local cargo airlines and there were two moose eating a tree, decided to stop and take a few pictures.
