July 2006 Trip To New York From Honolulu On Delta

Thu Apr 26, 2007 5:23 pm

This is my first trip report that I am writing on anet and it sadly does not contain any photos due to the fact that this is a flight that I took last summer. Another thing I am missing is the planes registration number sorry about that.

So after my final day in summer school, which ended at noon, my mom picked me up and we went home to finish our packing and get ready for a 4:40 flight to Cincinnati. My dad pick us up and 2:10 and we headed off to HNL. We quickly got checked in and got through security in no time so we had about 2 hours to waste. So we ended up doing some shopping and walking around the terminal.

Delta 512
HNL (Honolulu) - CVG (Cincinnati)
July 21, 2006
Boeing 767-400 ER
Ewa Terminal
Departure: 4:40 PM
Arrival: 7:21 AM
Cabin/Seat: First 4D

Upon entering the aircraft we were immediately welcomed and a very kind flight attendant guided us to our seats in first class and within 5 seconds of getting into our seat one of the f flight attendants offered to take our drink orders by our names. Within a minute there they were my coke and my moms diet coke. Shortly after take off and as we got our cruising altitude the two flight attendants in the first cabin started to take dinner orders. Our two options for the evening was chicken or steak, I took the steak. The smell of dinner came running through the cabin about 20 minutes later and dinner was served. Ive had steak at a variety of res-truants across the country and for an airline steak I would have to say it was excellent although it was very small. After the main course we continued on with vanilla ice cream which was served with hot chocolate. Later on throughout the flight I watched two movies and then fell asleep until a continental breakfast of cereal, yogurt, a begal, and fruit was served as we began our decent into CVG.

After an 8 hour flight we were already exhausted but yet we had to continue on for our connecting flight from CVG to ALB. Now the layover in CVG was one of the worst ever and Delta's gate system for its Comair flights really needs serious adjustments. It took us almost 30 minutes just to understand the pure basics of there system.

Canadair Regional Jet
Departure: 8:25 AM
Arrival: 10:13 AM
Cabin/Seat: Economy 4C

This was a very quick flight that I slept through for a good portion of the trip. We had a very nice flight attendant who made a couple of round offering snacks and water. The only con was the cabin really looked out-dated and old.

After our Comair flight we went to get our baggage in the baggage claim and went to meet our driver to our hotel called the Sagamore a wonderful private island resort in Lake George.

After a nice week relaxing in Lake George it was time to head of to the big city New York! So we left the amazing Sagamore at 9:00 AM and go to the airport at 10:00 AM an hour ahead of schedule. The workers at the check-in desks were definately confused today because we went to the Delta check-in desk for a our flight which was on Delta but nope they said it was a Continental code-share flight and then the Continental check-in said nope and then sent us back to Delta were they finally checked us in.  knockout  Very confusing.

DeHavilland 8-100
Departure: 11:21 AM
Arrival: 12:49 PM
Cabin/Seat: Economy 6D

This was a very quick and fast flight which had food services of any sort. The ride had a bit of turbulence and was noisy because it was a turbo-prop.
