The New Delta RNO-SLC-DCA Report

Fri Jul 27, 2007 8:44 am

Our vacation started on July 16th we had reservations for John Ascuaga's in Sparks,NV we had a room on the 24th floor facing RNO Airport. For more on that stay http://picasaweb.google.com/Mike8940...gaSNuggetHotelInSparksNV2007_07_16

Also there are more pics of this trip at the following link but as everyone knows there are only so many pics this site can handle.

Our day started really early as me and my wife didn't sleep much with all the exictment of a nearly X-country flight. We caught the 0430 complimentry shuttle to the airport and the line was actually fast for check-in 5-10 mins we were on our way to the security checkpoint which took another 10 mins to get through. Made it to our gate and had plenty of time to wait eventually they moved the jetway to the aircraft about 0600 as flight crews were about to board this MD-90 for its first flight of the day.

What suprised me was how busy SLC was. It's a busy hub for domestic DL flights. Terminal D alone was a madhouse trying to get around not to mention I barely had time to get some Quiznos and run back to my gate as the food court was packed In summary service was great we recieved gingerbread cookies and a beverage for the short flight.

Welcome To DCA

The flight was good with only one caveat. I could only get 1/2 of the Dish Network channels to work. Also the F/A told me to watch the movies I just needed to to swipe my credit card obviously but I couldn't get the movie(s) to work after doing so. I just gave up and watched a few channels and the map. On a positive note the F/A's announced that this was the new DL IFE system. Also I noticed the seats were fairly brand new leather (Hardly any wrinkles)

And your verdict for Delta: ?
The proper term is "on final" not "on finals" bud...

I was pleased with DL service however this is only half of my trip. I will post my final verdict at the end of my final trip report

I can see that DL is still in transition and will take some time to fully see the change. I will add the F/A/and Ticket agents seem to like they're job and are very serious in they're demeanor. I would say that DL on a scale of 1-10 is a 7 for this segment.

I was surprised to see that a lot of the gates carry the new look as well as the ticket counters and flight monitors.

However I didn't see one plane with the new DL livery (Only the DL Xjet or DL Connection).

I think their recent tv commercial is fairly impressive. I flying them on Aug 20. I can't wait to test the new DL.

I can't believe they also like AA serve Oreo biscuits. I find them disgusting. From London we got a box of these as a "snack."

Song was good it was the only plane with the IFE on any segment of my trips. I especially enjoyed the inflight map.

Unfortunatley my window was dirty, If it wasn't for that I could've got much better shots.

They had overhead TV's that were used for the safety demonstration only.

Meh they're snack pack isn't impressive but as some other people have said DL seems to serve more than most US legacy airlines in economy. BTW I didn't eat the cookies anyways.
