Well time for a quick run before my 90,000 miles on US Airways expire so I looked for a cheap fare and succeeded in finding a $128 to PHX so I booked it. So I got to the airport that morning at 5:00. Of course no bags for my quick day trip to PHX and I used online check the night before so I was all set. Bought a bagel at West Mesa as well as a coffee. I reported to B2 to see my 320 in the new US colors ( first time flying US since leaving the PHL area in 2005) and we soon boarded. Light load that morning of only aprox. 50%. I was welcomed by two very nice F/A’s still wearing their HP uniforms (as all HP F/A’s) this A320 was one of few with the HP leather seats. I have to say they were quite nice. So I took a seat at 16A and chatted with one of the Y class F/A’s and she was saying how much she liked the new business model for US and how she loved being part of the family but what she wanted most was for the certificates to merge so she could transfer to PHL as she is fluent in French and German and could get Transatlantics on the A330/762 fleet. So anyway be taxi to 08 no delay and make a powerful t/o and climb to FL307 where cranium was played on the video screens (LCD) and I took an OJ to drink before we began to decend to PHX where we land and it is already 100F. I notice at PHX how little birds remain in the HP livery. I am glad US made 2 retro jet A319’s with both HP colors. I forgot which gate but I then catch some bus to Central Phoenix and have a nice lunch and stoll sround in the heat before reporting back at 14:00 for my 15:05 to ABQ.

So I go to the gate and I hear an announcement of a small delay due to a late arriving 733 from PDX so I kick back and do some plane watching and soon enough we are called to board but there is an upgrading possibility for $50 each way ( I thought it was way more?) so I take it and get my card for 1B an aisle seat but ok since it is F. Our purser Janet comes to take my Pre takeoff drink order and I take just plane ice water accompanied with some nuts. And we soon push and make a sluggish takeoff and climb to fl280 and for my drink I take another water and then we decend for landing in ABQ.
